Messages flattened, ridiculous red fields taking up space.
Is someone interfering with messages posted here? In the comments section I keep coming across messages that are flattened out to one line, under which is a giant red rectangle, beyond which it is impossible to go. It looks like deliberate sabotage, perhaps in retaliation for the stopping of one line comments by the Cheetos Crowd.

You can thank your nerdy little friend Hacks Alot w/Prescription for at least one pile of image spam.
Don't know what he's trying to prove, other than his near-genius ability to repeat the IMC logo over and over, but I'm sure it seemed like a good idea to him at the time...at least, until the buzz was gone.
As far as your conspiracy theory du jour is concerned, I think you'll find that us trolls post very few image files. That seems to be a common form of self-expression amongst the libbies and annies, who apparently have trouble with getting their points across with actual words.
"It looks like deliberate sabotage, perhaps in retaliation for the stopping of one line comments by the Cheetos Crowd."
Yeah, that was very effective, wasn't it? For about 10 seconds. Try again, Skippy.

why how coulud you even entertain such an idea? As they have stated numerous times, they are not here to disrupt but to EDUCATE us in our backward/progressive missinformed ideology or just to intertain themselves. I'm shocked to even have you concider such an idea as within the realm of reality. You should know better. I hope you feel ashaimed for that thought. I know I feel ashaimed to have even heard you put it in words. It's unthinkable. We know their good intentions and unflagging honesty. Shame on you. I'll pray for your swift recovery away from your obvious paranoia,

The posting size minimum is under testing and review. We may or may not retain it. I'm not sure what to make of the gigantic HTML tables, but, they were posted here before the character limits were coded in.
There have been a lot of requests for increased editing/hiding of posts, so, that's finally getting onto the agenda. We'll probably start zapping them on a more regular basis in the future.
You can go and toss that "freedom of speech" accusation around, but, frankly, until conservative sites are willing to put up numerous sites where the primary news posts and comments are not moderated beforehand, the wailing, whining, and finger-pointing will hold no merit.

Fat chance. I'm against hacking. Tracing down IP's and analysing posting patterns of *known trolls* is not hacking.
IMC knows better - I now post from an IP pool tied to a contained geographic area that *always* resolves to a private ISP service. No more random anon proxies, but a private bounce I set up myself. The IP did change earlyer today when the computer running the bounce crashed due to AC power problems (I had to go over and get the computer running again and re-start)
I don't know how ned did that effect but it appeared to be pure HTML I noticed. (prob cooked it up in a HTML editor then pasted it with the HTML setting enabled)
This could be disabled easyly enough...
The worst thing I've ever done is post big pictures (because my viewer re-scales and I don't always pay attention to the actual size) and once I uploaded a 10.mb file of spaces on the main IMC (I intended this to be a throughput test file for dial-up with compression but it posted it as a comment since the extension was .txt) I didn't repeat that mistake again (although with gzip it really didn't hurt anything)
IMC always knows me by IP now just like I said I would do (stop using anon proxies at all and only a private bounce which is technically part of our own network since there's encrypted tunnels and file transfers going on between it and my gateway)
We're increasing our total bandwidth to 896.kbps outward and 4.5 mbps inward within the week too !
After years of only dial-up we're really moving now, I have to burn several CD's a day just to keep up.
The extra bandwith was ordered today due to a promotional offer..
We're far too busy D/L'ing and sharing/streaming - well just imagine what you would be doing with this kind of bandwidth (approx 3 X typical DSL speed)
Only my CD burner is working so I'm kept quite busy burning for everyone else (other burner went bad)
We're transfering DivX's to video tape because most people here don't even have internet access at all much less a computer that will play movies, but many people do have VCRs and I can play these movies without tying up my computer as well (plus I don't have to aim a camera at the monitor which is a pain since I don't have a fancy composite video out video card like the people where the bounce is does)
So we trade abilities - we both D/L stuff, but I burn CD's and they transfer to tape...

Do you think that zapping our posts is going to stop us?
You've practically destroyed your own website in order to silence us. First you removed the latest comments page. You've tried banning our IPs. You've instigated an "ignore" feature. And, most recently, you've scripted a "minimum comment length" subroutine, all in the name of driving off the trolls.
But to no avail.
Nessie practically has to live online to keep sf-imc from being eaten alive by rightwingers. Why don't you learn from them.
It's not really worth the effort. Better to save your sanity and just learn to live with us.
