As the other people were leaving the police station, sergeant Lance Heard pushed a woman who had already left the office. Later on, the paramedics showed up to treat her bruises on her knee.

Earlier at the supermarket store, I had asked sergeant Lance Heard to let me fill a police report. A man leaving the store in his luxury white infinity had stopped his car in the middle of the parking lot. He got out of his car and started running after me with a large cup full of coffee which he threw at me, all over my jacket.

At this point, I was yelling at the Police 200 feet away from me. " I want to make a police report now."

Jim told me, of course, not to sign a blank piece of paper. After the rally we went to the police station with about 30 strikers. We wanted to pressure the police into accepting our report of the aggressive behaviors toward the strikers and their supporters.
The police, I guess, didn’t want a lawyer or a person videotaping the report made by a striker and me. They got rid of both, Jim and the video camera.
After we waited 40 minutes outside the police station, the police finally accepted to take me in the police station with two witnesses. Nothing had change. Now without Jim DeMaegt from the National Lawyers Guild and without the woman videotaping, sergeant Lance Heard asked me again to sign a blank police report. He probably thinks that we are dumb.
I will come back again at the police station to fill that darn police report. And I will come with a lawyer and with a person videotaping the report being made.
The National Lawyers Guild/LA Chapter is providing ongoing support to the striking and locked-out grocery workers. The stores we are targeting are being selected based upon the recommendation of union leaders. Our next picketing events are as follows:
Wednesday, January 21, 2004, and January 28, 2004, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Pavilions/Vons, 11030 Jefferson Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90230. On January 21 and 28, 2004, we will be at the Pavilions located at 11030 Jefferson Boulevard, Culver City (east of Sepulveda) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Our picketing on January 7 and 14 resulted in massive deployment by the Los Angeles Police Department. Over 40 police officers were present and their deployment made it very difficult for customers to enter the store.
