Why They Hate George W. Bush
Larry Abraham, Insight Magazine, December 10, 2003
We can huff and puff until we fall over in a dead faint, but when all facts are considered we are in a religious war and the most immediate target is G.W. Bush and his administration comprised of other true believers, John Ashcroft, Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. They are the secularists' and jihadists' worst nightmare.
There is one more irony in this death struggle. Both G.W. Bush and Osama bin Laden truly believe that the God they pray to put them on this earth at this time to do what they are both doing and the final irony is that if bin Laden wins it will because of those who never pray or hold in contempt those who do, such as another Bush hater, Ted Turner who offered his secret of success by stating "...prayer is for weaklings".
I guess the two things that bother me the most about all this vitriolic Bush bashing is how his critics never come right out and say "why" they hate him so much, but prefer to beat around the bush (pun unintended) while jousting at an endless series of straw men be they economic or war related. Even in unabashed secular circles it is considered poor form to vocally hate someone for his religious beliefs. The second thing which annoys me is how these critics denounce as "stupid" any belief which doesn't correspond to their own and take on airs of intellectual superiority as they proudly reduce their own arguments to the most infantile form of invective.
As I said at the top, the core of the Hate Bush Movement is fueled by the fact that he is a self-professed Christian and unfortunately many leading this parade are so-called Libertarians who have nothing in common with the Liberal Left except their social agenda and the faulty Marxist premise of Economic Determinism. Even though they come to different conclusions, both agree that the primary motivation in human activity is rooted in "who gets what" and there is no room for any spiritual or altruistic considerations unless it is to award the Nobel Prize to Jimmy Carter for slamming a few nails into a lean-to hut in some dismal Third World country.

...to vocally hate someone for his religious beliefs."
Increasingly less so.
The last acceptable prejudices are against Jews and Christians, especially among the enlightened, tolerant, loving Liberals.
The ACLU is rabidly anti-Christian. Any display of Christian symbology on public land is immediately sued out of existence, yet a Muslim summer camp on public land is allowed without a peep of protest from those most concerned about the separation of church and state.
Prejudice against Jews is increasing, especially in Europe. Violence and vandalism are more and more common. Much Jew-hate is thinly disguised as "anti-Zionism". Proof of this are most screeds against Israel, where Israel's crimes are loudly condemned, yet identical (and worse) crimes committed by other nations are ignored.
Liberals used to be all about compassion and acceptance.
What happened?
Try to get it straight this time. We hate Bush not because of what he is but because of what he says and does. He has seriously damaged US credilbility in the world, undermined environmental and worker protections, gave out taxt breaks and immunity from prosecution to his fat-cat friends while leading the nation back into deficits. He has launched an assault on civil liberties not seen previously in my lifetime. Oh, yeah -- then there's the illegal invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, which have caused so much misery (and expense), both based on lies. For the record, I love my Christian wife dearly, but then, she has not caused so much damage.
...for every single person who hates Bush?
Really? All of them? You asked them all?
Face it...there ARE people who hate Bush for his faith.
Ask around some more.
Bush, that sanctimonious hypocrit, spouting religious mumbo-jumbo fit for a nine year old as he murders people all over the globe?
Spoiled brat "libertarians," whining about restrictions on how they can screw people over?
Militarists? Free market fanatics? Smug, small town Rotary types whose heads are full of nothing but bigotry and the last television show they saw? Pompous, ultra-zionist "neo-conservatives" spouting redneck ideas fit for the Alabama backwoods with a Harvard accent?
To hell with them all. There is nothing to choose among them. Kick them all out.
|you forgot nazi-birdwatching groups and homo-coal miners
Some people hate Bush because of the way he walks. No, really!!!
..."To hell with everyone who is not exactly like me."
Is that what you meant to say? Sounds an awful lot like the bigotry you so vehemently accuse small-town Rotarian types of having. In other words, you're a flaming hypocrite.
And you expect to get your way politically in this country, when you obviously hate all but a tiny percentage of its population?
You are in for some major disappointment, Skippy.
But then, you're a Marxist, and therefore reality-challenged.
Sorry mate, but whatever one might think of the United States, crackpot libertarians, Dr. Strangelove-type militarists, neocons and small town Babbitts don't make up the majority of the population. Neither do right-wing loons like you.
ML might be arrogant, but nonanarchist is also quite arrogant, and probably missing a few marbles. Why would someone who hates the left so much go spend more time on this relatively radical website than I do? I work on it and I still spend less time here.
BTW - a lot of the people against Bush are Christians. Abraham is just trying to turn this into a "Culture War" conflict. It's a bogus strawman argument he's making.
But, on to the point of this comment. Insight Magazine is part of the Washington Times. That paper is owned by the Moonies, the Unification Church.
If you go to http://www.Unification.net, there are a couple speeches made at the WT anniversary where Moon praises himself for helping out Reagan and fighting the Culture Wars. He also had a second speech telling his audience that the End Times are near, and that the WT and UPI should get ready for this holy war.
Seriously. The UC boasts about pouring more than a billion dollars into the Washington Times and Insight.
You just keep believing that everyone who disagrees with your position is mentally ill.
Whatever gets you through the day.
How have you gotten the idea that I hate the left? I have never said as much. Why do you confuse disagreement with hatred? Are you that insecure about your politics? Certainly the misguided folks around here cannot handle debate; all they want is fawning acceptance of whatever nonsense du jour happens to spill from their keyboards.
I don't hate anybody. Even Meyer, no matter how insignificant his politics are or how badly he want to destroy the Constitution.
Contrast this with Meyer's obvious hate of all who don't fit into his narrow pigeon-hole.
Now, johnk, where is your condemnation of that hate?
