Last night, as Bechtel vigil was ending, the Global Women's Strike
organized a spur-of-the-moment march with our anti-corporate/military
occupation signs (many of them painted by Highland Park vigiler Jennifer
Murphy) to corner of Figueroa and 8th. That's where Justice for Janitors
have an encampment (and hunger strikers) outside a building whose owner,
Mani Brothers, is refusing to provide health insurance.
We asked the janitors what kind of support they need from need from the
rest of us.
Below is message from janitors asking you to call Mani Brothers to support
the janitors' Fast for Justice. Please circulate to your local vigil
groups!

TURKEY OR MEDICINE?
Doctors join workers today to call on Los Angeles-area corporations to do
the right thing and provide health insurance.
Because when they don't all of LA suffers.
Grocery workers, janitors and others are fasting to ensure everyone has
access to affordable health care. 43 million Americans are uninsured and
the number keeps growing.
It's time to say "Enough is Enough!"
This Thanksgiving tell companies like Mani Brothers, the owner of this
building, to set a positive example in Southern California and help ensure
that all working people have health care benefits and can enjoy a "Happy
Thanksgiving."

Here's hoping each of you will take a few moments from your busy holiday
schedule to Invest in Caring by making that call.
