This is scary. Even more so is the fact that the author is probably right that nothing will happen to those who leaked the information. This Administration does not give a s--- about the American public.

I believe this issue is going to be George Bush's 'Watergate'. Senator Barbara Boxer delivered an excellent address to the Senate regarding this matter. Robert Novak, I feel, acted irresponsibly in reporting this information and should be held accountable, as should the Chicago Sun Times. This 'source' deserves no protection from the Press and the individuals identity should be made known.

The main thread on this is:
"CIA seeks probe of White House"
http://la.indymedia.org/news/2003/09/85324.php I suggest you go there. There are several comments already and a couple of excellent postings by Ffutal, very well documented (as always by him/her).
The Dems are hoping for something here, but it's already looking like nothing. President Bush said he wants to know what happened, the Justice Dept. has a special unit of investagators that have been there since the Carter administration which will be combing through all the people, paperwork and hard-drives to find the link in the chain that broke down. The FBI is involved. Everyone realizes how serious this is and no doubt the person(s) who did it will be caught and, if a crime was committed, will be prosecuted.
But, hoping that this leads to Rove or any other top official is fruitless. It's likely going to be some minor staffer who decided to be stupid, if it even turns out that "outing"her was a crime or that she was even "outed". That's still in question. Sounds like it was commonly known she was CIA, they just didn't want it widely broadcast.
Indeed, Novak has already said:
"Nobody in the Bush administration called me to leak this. In July, I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told me the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing. As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington, I do not reveal confidential sources.
When I called the CIA in July, they confirmed Mrs. Wilson's involvement in a mission for her husband on a secondary basis, who is--he is a former Clinton administration official. They asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else. According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operative, and not in charge of undercover operatives."
"Senior Officials" don't become "senior" by pulling dumb stunts. They know better. If you're going to leak something like this on purpose for whatever reason, there are ten billion different and better ways to do it other than this, ways that create a long and tangled map to never finding out who said what about anything.
But, as usual, those here who want to see a boogie man behind every tree with take what has happened and draw conslusions without having any documented evidence to back up their claims.

"President Bush said he wants to know what happened"
...gee, and he would never lie...would he?
It funny how you accuse people of jumping to conclusions without evidence, but in your ill-informed defense of da shrub, that is EXACTLY what you are doing...
Forget it pal, your boy is MEAT! He fucked up and now the jig is up.....
...I am gonna enjoy this......

I haven't reached any conclusion, except that you're making accusations without documented evidence.
Novak is the one who knows the sources, and he isn't going to give them up. So unless his sources step up, what's the chance of anyone figuring out where it came from? One would have to guess there is a paper trial or someone overheard or it's on a harddrive. That's going to take a while.
I'll get the last laugh here, just like I always have with those like you. There's nothing here that will ever be pinned on Bush or Rove or Cheney. Nothing. Mainly because they didn't call on it to happen. This ambassador is a third rate nobody. And like I said, if they _had_ wanted to leak it, there's billions of other ways to do it and leave no trace whatsoever.

Very likely. Did you ever hear of "phone logs".? White House has 'em for outgoing calls. Should be easy enough to review the logs and BAM! If there was shopping around, which seems to be the case (one of the six jounalists, as well as a high administration official, seems to be talking), and they were made by a senior official out of the White House or his office, then there will be the documented evidence you are bleating about...
...but, I almost forgot...you are not interested in what happened. You just want it to go away.
You people are pathetic....

Bush is a liar and petty coward who uses his minions to attack families of his enemies.
He deserves impeachment.

It's DOA. You just haven't figured it out yet. And won't for a long time after it is over. Typical.
