Radio WBAI's Building Bridges:

Your Community & Labor Report – National Edition

Produced by Mimi Rosenberg and Ken Nash

Presents

BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW! with

Former congressperson Cynthia McKinney, and family members of soldiers in Iraq as well as Gloria Pacis mother of Stephen Funk a Marine who refused to be deployed when his unit was called to active duty and instead engaged in anti-war work and now faces court-martial.

The "bring em home now" movement came to NYC with former Congressperson Cynthia Mckinney who joined with parents and relatives of soldiers stationed in Iraq. Ms. KcKinney, who lost her

House seat last year after wealthy pro-war, pro-Bush supporters funneled thousands of dollars in to the campaign of her opponent to punish Mckinney for opposing the war and being supportive of the

Palestinian cause, has become a hero to the peace and justice movement, as well as one of it's most eloquent spokespersons.

"I refuse to surrender my dignity, I refuse to kill...

the military demands obedience, but I will not obey."

- LCpl Stephen Funk Stephen Eagle Funk.

Stephen Eagle Funk has taken a stand against the most powerful military force in the world, saying, "I refuse to kill." Stephen refused to deploy when his unit was called to active duty, and instead

engaged in anti-war work, including speaking at several anti-war rallies. On April 1, after 47 days of absence, he turned himself in. The Marine Corps, faced with massive media coverage, promised

that it would quickly process his claim as a conscientious objector. However, now the Corps is planning to court-martial him, charging him with desertion. He faces up to 2 years in prison and a

dishonorable discharge. Gloria Pacis, Stephen Funk's mother, describes her son's case.

Lefties PLEASE!

by Papoon Monday, Sep. 08, 2003 at 3:19 AM

Do even you professional lefties believe this asshole who joined the MARINES and then was shocked SHOCKED! that he might have to go to war and kill? Fuck you, chickenshit. Do your fucking job. No one drafted you, coerced you, or tricked you, little mama's darling. Enjoy Leavenworth.

And the traitorous bitch McKinney, justly thrown out of Congress by her fellow black people, and not by J-E-W-S, is another piece of work. These two truly deserve one another.
