LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT HONORS FOR ACTOR, JOHN SPENCER AT 2003 TEMECULA VALLEY INTERNATIONAL FILM & MUSIC FESTIVAL

entertainment! The 2003 Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival (TVIFMF) is proud to announce John Spencer will be receiving recognition for his outstanding acting career in TV/Film as he is presented a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Black Tie Awards Gala , 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the Ponte Family Estate Winery (35035 Rancho California Road,
Temecula).
Spencer, most recognized for his character Tommy Mullaney on "L.A. Law" is dazzling primetime audiences these days on NBC's hit award-winning drama "The West Wing" (Weds., 9 p.m.). But it was his work as Harrison Ford's detective side-kick in "Presumed Innocent" that took him from a very noteworthy career in film ("Sea of Love," "War Games," "Black Rain," "Forget Paris," "The Rock," "The Negotiator" and "Copland") into the homes of millions of TV viewers. Packing theatres from New York to Los
Angeles with his powerful and penetrating performances in stage plays from the beginning of his career to his acknowledged performance with rave reviews in the more recent, "Glimmer, Glimmer and Shine," Spencer makes his mark wherever he performs. In addition to his Golden Globe nomination, many Emmy nominations to Emmy Win, TVIFMF is proud to add Spencer to this year's festival honors for a career which has taken a labor of love to a lifetime of remarkable performances.

FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS OF ACTING IN FILM & TELEVISION: Internationally recognized actress/writer/director and entertainment activist, Diane Ladd. Ladd's credits include "Rambling Rose," "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," "Black Widow" and "28 Days."
FOR FIVE DECADES IN MUSIC, Etta James is the Godmother of R&B/Jazz & Soul! The powerful songstress' unparalleled career has inducted her into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Grammy of Fame, honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Her hit recordings include, "At Last," "Trust In Me," "All I Could Do Was Cry," "Something's Got A Hold On Me.
FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DIRECTING PROFESSION, acclaimed director, Penelope Spheeris, whose credits include "Wayne's World," "The Decline Of Western Civilization," and "Suburbia."
FOR SIGNIFICANT FILM EDUCATION CONTRIBUTIONS : Dr. Howard Suber, Professor Emeritus at the UCLA School of Theater Film & Television and consultant/expert witness on copyright/creative control issues to all major film studios. Suber helped establish and chair the UCLA Film Archive, the Critical Studies and Ph.D. Programs, and the Film & Television Producers Program. Geoffrey Gilmore, Director, Film Festival Programming/Special Projects at the Sundance Institute will be introducing Suber for his honor.
FOR 64 YEARS IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY:, Paramount Pictures Executive, A.C. Lyles has served 50 years as a producer-writer-partner in numerous theatrical features and television shows ("Young Fury," The Last Day," "Flight To The Holocaust" to "Here's Boomer"). His many achievements include winning the George Washington Award of the Freedoms Foundation, being sworn onto the Presidential Board of Advisors on Private Sector Initiatives in 1986 and White House Entertainment Hollywood/celebrity liaison through the administrations of Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton.
Celebrating nine years, the TVIFMF is slated for September 10-14, 2003 at The Movie Experience 10 at Tower Plaza (25735 Ynez Road). Last year the festival had over 6,000 attendees, boasting participation from 200 filmmakers, musicians, producers, directors, writers, judges, cast and crew. The Lifetime Achievement Awards have been part of the festival since inception back in 1995. Past recipients include: Ray Charles, Rita Coolidge, Shirley Jones Robert Wise, Carl Reiner, Howard Koch, Marsha Mason, Billy Preston, Patty Duke and William Shatner.
