I got this in an email and I was dumbfounded by the simple truth. I am an atheist, but truth is undeniable. Just wanted to share this with all of you.
In light of the many perversions and jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke, it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11).
Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.
And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand
He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school ... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. The school administrators said no faculty member in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued (there's a big difference between disciplining, touching, beating, smacking, humiliating, kicking, etc.). And we said OK.
Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents. And we said OK.
Then some wise school board member said, since boys will be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our sons all the condoms they want so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school. And we said OK.
Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. Agreeing with them, we said it doesn't matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is good.
Then someone said let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body. And we said OK.
And then someone else took that appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then further again by making them available on the Internet. And we said OK, they're entitled to free speech.
Then the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes. And we said it's just entertainment, it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.
Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they WILL think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in!

You're way off man. Go back and re-read the article. You don't have to believe in God to get the point.
"....what truth....that god had Madeleine Murray O'Hare whacked?"
No, just the opposite. She got whacked because God was expelled from her world. Had her killer had an honest fear of God, or a fear of suffering in hell, in his heart and mind, she'd likely not have been murdered.
You're intentially dumb-play just makes you look...well, dumb.

Try sounding out the words. Use a dictionary for those you don't understand. You can do it. I know you can.
God doesn't murder people. People murder people.
Usually those murderers are people that don't fear God.
If more people had a fear of burning in hell for violating the 10 commandments, the world just might be a better place.
If you can't see that then you're beyond reach. I feel pity for you. Your life must be very miserable and pitiable.
I'm sorry.

If you who don't believe in God, or a higher power, or a better place than hell, why in the world would you still be living? If you, everyone you love, and everyone in the world are going to die one day, why worry about terrorism and weapons of mass distruction, if there is no place to go from here? After you die, you will soon be forgotten. People move on - even your loved ones, and that's all there is, or will be to your life. You're already in hell. Why live it out? You have within your power the ability to "end it all now," to control when, where, and how you die. What is the psyche behind existing with no control over when it will "all end" with no reward in sight?

"'Religion is based . . . mainly upon fear . . . fear of the mysterious, fear of defeat, fear of death. Fear is the parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand . . . . My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race.'" -Bertrand Russell
Sexism of Religion:
"How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?" [JOB 25: 4 *King James Bible]
"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord." "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." "Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing." [EPHESIANS 5: 22-24 *King James Bible]
Warmongering of Religion:
"The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name." [EXODUS 15: 3 *King James Bible]
"Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war." [PROVERBS 20: 18 *King James Bible]
“That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.” [2 CHRONICLES 15: 13 *King James Bible]
Child Abuse and Religion:
"Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him." [PROVERBS 22: 15]
"Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die." "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." [PROVERBS 23: 13-14 *King James Bible]
"And he (God's prophet Elisha) went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head." "And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them." [2 KINGS 2: 23-24]
Other Evils of Religion:
"In another area of human rights, many Christian clergymen advocated slavery. Historians Larry Hise notes in his book, Proslavery, that ministers 'wrote almost half of all defenses of slavery published in America.' He listed 275 men of the cloth who use the Bible to prove that white people were entitled to own black people as work animals." -From Holy Horrors
"'Everything Hitler did to the Jews, all the horribly unspeakable misdeeds, had already been done to the smitten people before by the Christian churches. . . . The isolation of Jews into ghetto camps, the wearing of the yellow spot, the burning of Jewish books, and finally the burning of the people - Hitler learned it all from the church. However, the church burned Jewish women and children alive, while Hitler granted them a quicker death, choking them first with gas.' - Dagobert Runes ************************************************************************************************* Atheists Supply Less Than 1% Of Prison Populations . . .In "The New Criminology", Max D. Schlapp and Edward E. Smith say that two generations of statisticians found that the ratio of convicts without religious training is about 1/10 of 1%.
W. T. Root, professor of psychology at the Univ. of Pittsburgh, examined 1,916 prisoners and said "Indifference to religion, due to thought, strengthens character," adding that Unitarians, Agnostics, Atheists and Free-Thinkers are absent from penitentiariers or nearly so.
During 10 years in Sing-Sing, those executed for murder were 65% Catholics, 26% Protestants, 6% Hebrew, 2% Pagan, and less than 1/3 of 1% non-religious.
Steiner and Swancara surveyed Canadian prisons and found 1,294 Catholics, 435 Anglicans, 241 Methodists, 135 Baptists, and 1 Unitarian. Dr. Christian, Superintendant of the NY State Reformatories, checked 22,000 prison inmates and found only 4 college graduates. In "Who's Who" 91% were college graduates, and he commented that "intelligence and knowledge produce right living" and that "crime is the offspring of superstition and ignorance."
. . .What does this tell you about parochial school systems or claims that religion is the guardian of morals? * Fifty-two percent of people belong to no church, yet live clean lives and * * supply less than 1% of the total criminal population. So much for * * religious indoctrination.

Assuming you submitted your comment in response to mine, thank you. You supplied very interesting reports bearing information of which I was not aware. However, you failed to answer my question. Let me be more specific. I am not taking a "shot" at Atheists. Furthermore, I am less interested in statistics, historical data, and a general bashing of all religions, as I am in YOUR individual conviction. I made no claims of religion being a "guardian of morals," nor did I exalt "religious indoctrination:" I simply asked if those, who do not believe in a broader scope of life here on earth, maintain that they have a purpose for living. Since you answered, I will re-direct my question at you. Do you believe you are the result of chemical combustions gone awry (or, the scientific definition for "a mistake"), and therefore, a meaningless mass of atoms soon to return to the nothingness from which you came, or is there literally a reason you were brought into awareness of your existence?

If you're looking for answers, may I suggest asking someone besides Anne Graham. I don't think that she'd been tapped as God's spokeswoman and I'm sure she's not versed in God's current US policies.
According to Osama, it was God who OK'd his mission and allowed it to take be successful. Anne thinks that God turned his back. What if God changed sides? What side does that leave Anne on? Islam has school prayer and God in the government. Maybe she should look into a religion more in tune with her philosophies.

The person that wrote the original e-mail did not know who it was that they were insulting!
This person states: "In light of recent events... I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare... complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK."
Fact: In 1963 Madeleine Murray O'Hare assisted in passing the law that bans "Organized" prayer. That means that no matter what the religion of the child, they are forced to pray the way the teacher wants them to pray.
Fact: If "the events of today" are caused by O'Hare, that means that it took her since 1963 to do this damage. Considering that she was killed in 1995 at the age of 76, she must be pretty slow with her efforts while living and pretty fast when she is dead.
Fact: Her body was not "found recently". The guy that killed her confessed that after stealing $54,000 from her organization, he thought she had money so he kidnapped her (age 76, her son and daughter (full adults). When he found that they had no money he killed them. He led police to her body to prove it.

In addition to the myth perpetuated by this email about Ms. O'Hare, is the myth about Dr. Benjamin Spock beliefs and his kid. Dr. Spock's book Baby and Child Care was published in 1946, just in time for the post-World War II baby boom, and became a widely-accepted "bible" on child rearing. Pediatrician Spock encouraged new parents to use common sense and to treat children with respect. This led some critics to call him the "Father of Permissiveness," in spite of Spock's protests to the contrary. In the 1960s Spock gained new fame as a pacifist and Vietnam War protestor.
And finally, contrary to popular rumor, Dr. Spock's son did not commit suicide. His grandson Peter did commit suicide in 1983...
Bottom line, just because it is an email or blog that appears authoritative in nature, facts can be misrepresented to suit the agenda of the people who send it out. Just like the cliché “buyer beware”, let the reader be aware. Kind of like the myth that Saddam H. and Osama were in cahoots with each other to bring down the U.S....just remember where that myth came from.

osama's God is not the God who gave Jesus Christ his son to die on the cross. And God says in the Bible, only Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life
and u guys forgot an important thung: judge Christianity by Christ ALONE, not the people. Who says that a lot of Christian people are right anyway, not God,i'm sure for He sure is disappointed with everyone.
KPC, whether u read this or not, i'm sorry for you . I'll sure pray for you that you don't go to hell. God have mercy on you.
To the person who posted: some of the evils of religion. You obviously just take verses form the Bible and persecute it coz you are so not deep enough for the truth. Have you read the whole Bible and comprehend its depth? Do you think the Bible is a light-reading for living?
Christianity is not religion to Christians. It is considered a religion in place with other religions. Fear of God does not mean afraid of God. Like you know you're screwed if your Dad finds out you crashed his car, but you don't normally scream and run away when you see him. God-fearing Christians fear the Word of God and therefore would not commit cruelty and murder, for even hatred in murder in your heart and humiliation of a person is murder of a person's soul.
As for you comments on sexism, why then does you mom takes your dad's name when they marry, for a true Bible-believing Christian would know better to just asking his wife to shut up and listen to him only. Again, judge Christianity by Christ ALONE, not the people. Let me show you the entire portion of the verse you posted Eph 5:22 Wives, understand and support your husbands in ways that show your support for Christ. Eph 5:23 The husband provides leadership to his wife the way Christ does to his church, not by domineering but by cherishing. Eph 5:24 So just as the church submits to Christ as he exercises such leadership, wives should likewise submit to their husbands. Eph 5:25 Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church--a love marked by giving, not getting. Eph 5:26 Christ's love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, Eph 5:27 dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. Eph 5:28 And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They're really doing themselves a favor--since they're already "one" in marriage. Eph 5:29 No one abuses his own body, does he? No, he feeds and pampers it. That's how Christ treats us, the church, Eph 5:30 since we are part of his body. Eph 5:31 And this is why a man leaves father and mother and cherishes his wife. No longer two, they become "one flesh." Eph 5:32 This is a huge mystery, and I don't pretend to understand it all. What is clearest to me is the way Christ treats the church. Eph 5:33 And this provides a good picture of how each husband is to treat his wife, loving himself in loving her, and how each wife is to honor her husband.
As for your "warmongering" Jesus says: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Mat 10:34 Jesus' sword is His Word, the Living Word, aka the Bible. The war is between God's forces and Satan's. And for Christians, LIFE starts AFTER DEATH. So we don't mind if we are persecuted for standing up for the truth. And if you are dead spiritually, you're as good as dead. For if you have unforgiven sins and die in a shootout or when you're 97 and asleep, you'go to hell. Simple.
And the Bible says "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him." [PROVERBS 22: 15] But if you are wise in the Word, you wouldn't go psycho and whack your kids to traumatise them. I have experiences with the rod myself, a bamboo one, and I shall not have it other way, for I am what I am today.
As for your :"In another area of human rights, many Christian clergymen advocated slavery. Historians Larry Hise notes in his book, Proslavery, that ministers 'wrote almost half of all defenses of slavery published in America.' He listed 275 men of the cloth who use the Bible to prove that white people were entitled to own black people as work animals." -From Holy Horrors . There is no such thing as Christian clergyman. Only Catholics and other religions have clergies. and no one said that Catholics are the same as Christians.
However, the church burned Jewish women and children alive, while Hitler granted them a quicker death, choking them first with gas.' - Dagobert Runes "
Who says Hitler's church is the Church of God? certainly not God himself.
To summarize all, judge Christianity by Christ alone, and anyways, Christianity is not a religion, its The way of life, so your numbers don't mean anything.
