Separation of Economics and State

by judith mpls Tuesday, Jul. 29, 2003 at 2:32 PM

We need a separation of economics and state - not just church and state.

Let's have separation of economics and State - not just church and State. Why? Because the State can force us to do what they want. If you don't bootlick, they will go after you. They will send the I.R.S, their cops, their CIA, their FBI, their FEMA, their BATF, their environmentalists - whoever they can, with your tax money, forced upon you - so they can harass you. You pay them to harass you.

get a clue, judith

You cannot separate economics and state and still have a state. If the state is to do whatever is deemed approriate for them to do, they will automatically be involved in economic activity.

invent one then

Flat tax is wrong idea

by sisyphus Wednesday, Jul. 30, 2003 at 5:27 PM

The flat tax notion is harshest on those of lower income. Since the price of food, gas, etc, does not vary with income, those of ower income are less able to share the burden of taxes. Besides, the rate would have to be far higher than 10% to even approach paying for today's government services.

10% flat rate

by taxes Wednesday, Jul. 30, 2003 at 6:01 PM

One thing you could do is to have it where the flat tax didn't kick in on say the first $50K of income.

Government expenses are too high. Trimming the fat would be healthy. Local communities would moniter their expenses better than hugh bureaucracies. Put money in the hands of the people and they'll outshine a bunch of politicians anyday.
