I can't tell you how disapointed i was after seeing this movie. I know alot of peace activist like myself were really into the first one because of the theme of everbody being decieved and stuck in the matrix and not knowing it. That was a powerfull message to all of us on the left who have been freeded from the lies and propoganda of the corporate owned media. But this movie is nothing but a long car chase and some ridiculous fighting scences. The movie is nothing more than a video game on the screen. There is absolutly no plot at all, and can anybody tell me what the hell agent smith was doing in the movie they didnt even tell you what his role was. Its no coincedence that Time Warner also put out the sequel to Lord of the Rings and Terminator next month. The sequel to Lord of the rings, like the matrix ,had no plot and alot of special effects . I bet T-3 will be no different. The Wocheski Brothers or what ever their name is should be ashamed for agreeing to be a part of this. Once they read the script they should have never agreeded to let the multinational of TIme Warner ruin a good story by making it into just another action film like fast and furious. Dont waste your money on this Movie! They killed it !

The original film, "The Matrix", contained a powerful subversive political critique of our modern society. That message influenced a great number of people... from political activists to artists and intellectuals. However, I think many people missed the political underpinnings and saw the film as just an "action" film starring several handsome actors. If you haven't seen the original film... rent or buy it. If you can see beyond all the glitz and action... you'll find one hell of a subversive plot. Just as the 1950's Science Fiction classic "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" captured the paranoia of the anti-Communist McCarthy Witchhunts, "The Matrix" addresses our contemporary society as being an illusion hoisted upon humanity in order to control and oppress.
The "Left Curve" website has a pretty good article written by Author, Slavoj Zizek. It's an analysis of our present media manipulated existence and how "The Matrix" hit upon a couple of really astute observations.
http://www.leftcurve.org/ZizekSept11.html
I have no faith that "Matrix Reloaded" will in any way present a radical critique of society... not even by default or accident. The machines have won and "The Matrix" has become just another franchise. All the hype in the corporate press should make that perfectly clear.
Another terrific Science Fiction film that has subversive politics is John Carpenter's "They Live." If you haven't seen it, rent or buy it instead of wasting your time and money with "Matrix Reloaded."

Your an idiot system system failure. Go back to playing your video games, this movie had absoultey no plot at all. And even the action in this movie was lame. how do you know that the person who posted this is a right wing shrill. Cause if youve ever read any of my posts you'd know I am definatly on the left as anybody will tell you and this movie is nothing but a video game on the big screen. But why should anybody be suprised that the multinational of Time Warner should ruin a great story. I'll gaurantee you that the brothers who wrote this had very little imput into this project and just took the money and ran all the way to the bank! Free your Mind and wake up system

I saw it last night (disclaimer: with my 14 year old son), and thought it wasn't the worst movie I'd ever seen. The action scenes and special FX are kick ass, and the plot is a twisted paradigm. Anyone with a brain and a knowledge of programming/coding should be able to figure out where the story is going.
The problem with the movie was that, because the first one was soooo damn good, they had to try to go above and beyond for the sequel. It simply got overdone. Neo is now a super-hero, more powerful than superman with no kryptonite anywhere around. It was just a bloated, swollen attempt to twist the scenario one more time. Most people won't even understand what is going on. But they'll be entertained. And that's what we lay our money down on, right?
I also love how liberals take a sci-fi movie and try to make some sort of political statement out of it by relating it to their twisted ideologies. How retarted. Get a grip, it was just a movie. You saps are pathetic. Liberalist dementia. Will not this disease ever be cured??
And utterfailure up there saw the movie two times yesterday, and he plans on seeing it every day next week, and the week after, until it comes out on dvd, at which time he'll buy that and watch it until he finally understands everything "The Architect" was trying to tell him. What a joke. Tell us, utterfailure, how did you ever get through those boring Federalist Papers when you are so wrapped up in being some sort of techno-geek? I mean, did you rent the video game version of the Revolutionary War at Blockbusters and play through all 23 levels on you Nintendo Game-cube? And you're so busy being a "peace activist" (you fucking bitch) in your free time, but you'll plop your butt down in front of a corporate produced movie at $7.50 a pop (twice yesterday, mind you) and waste your time trying to rationalize your idiotic political position by finding some sort of correlation between the plot of a sci-fi movie and your mental retardation.
All of that, and he and his Vet buddies hunted VC in the Mekong jungles too. I think he said he was a tunnel rat in Nam, or something like that.
How pathetic.

Yea and the book 1984 was just a sci-fi book. War is peace ,slavery is freedom, sound familiar ? The movie was going no where. That whole thing with agent smith was ridcoulous. Of course your mind has not been freeded and your too brainwasned to figure out that six companies are not supposed to own all the media in the country. Movies are dumbed down just like TV, just a bunch of hype to sell their evil products like junk food and violent video games . That is why evil people like George Bush are able to take control of the country for the benafite of the rich cause these kids grow up corporate and are all under control, just like the song by Rage against the machine says "now your under control"

It also says, "fuck you I won't do what you tell me." And that statement says a lot. You want people like me to rise up and support your fight. You think there's some great conspiracy in America to "dumb us down" and keep us "under control" and you want me to support your fight. Get fucking real. I don't agree with you and FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YA TELL MEEEEE!!!!!
See, I've been to many, many other places in the world. Have you? I've seen first hand how shitty it can be, and is, outside of America. Have you? You spoiled little worms think that by revolting against a system that gives you everything, and I do mean everything, you are somehow doing something significant and the rest of us are just mindless zombie sycophants. Get the fuck out of here. Go learn about the real world you live in. Go travel. Go live in some other country. Go see for yourself.
Here you have freedom. Freedom of speech and of the press. Go start your own freaking newspaper or TV news show if you don't like Comcast cable. Go write a screenplay and be like Burger King and have it your way, if you can do a better job. But get your head out of those 4th grade George Orwell novels and utilize all the many wonderful freedoms our forefathers betrothed us.
Just do it responsibly.
And I thought the movie was good. It was worth $7.50.

Your right Eric America is a great country. And we on the left love it just as much as you do. In fact we love it so much we want to save it from the Fascists who want to destroy her and turn her over to wicked greedy men like good old Sandy from City Corp, and Bernie Evers from World Com. We actually care about simple things like clean water and air. We know that George Bush does not and that he just wants to turn it over to evil oil corporations who just want to use up Mother Earth like a two-bit whore for their own greedy purposes. It’s no conspiracy Eric that June the 2nd Michael Powell, our beloved Fcc chairman is going to propose laws that will allow even more media consolidation, and then Clear Channel and time Warner and Fox will own all the media in the world. Now you see we don’t think that it’s a radical idea to want a free press, and we believe that the public airwaves belong to the people and something should be given back to us for their use. I’m just wondering how an intelligent person like yourself can ignore what is happing or be ok with it if you say you love your country. Maybe when the brown shirts take control of the internet and shut sites like this down than all you right wingers who say they love America will wake up and take a look at what your government is doing in the name of security.
by Eric

See that’s the problem with liberalist dementia. Admittedly, you wavemaster, have a mild case. But it’s dementia, nonetheless. Why do I think so? Because you feel like those of you on the left have the exclusive, patented, privileged, God-ordained copyright on humanitarianism, environmentalism, etc. and everyone that doesn’t agree with your point of view is a Fascist, hell bent upon destroying the Earth.
At least in your case, it appears a sort of moderate delirium, as you’ve said a few things I admire and respect, which is out of the normal lockstep of the fifth column leftist status quo. Normally, a these indybay goons wouldn’t be caught dead admitting that America is a great country or that they love it. That would totally undermine their positions. Positions such as America being a “terrorist nation” and a “police state” and that our government somehow was implicitly involved in 9-11 just don’t mix well with “I love America”.
So I’m forced to give you ground. Well, not so much give it to you as to share it with you. See, I love America too. I want what’s best for her, so my children and yours can have the same experiences of enjoying the dream that we have.
I love the environment, just the same as you. I’m just not willing to sacrifice the needs of humanity at all costs to hold it in mint, proof, pristine condition like extremist environmentalist. There’s a balance that must be achieved.
I hold other people’s feelings in mind, just like you. I’m just as much a humanitarian, if not more so, than anyone on the left. I just realize that sometimes you must be cruel to be kind. Sometimes, sacrifices must be made. Or to put it in words that you might recognize, sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few (or the one). In other words, it’s not humanitarian to turn a blind eye to a despotic ruler that kills thousands of his or her own people with VX nerve gas, and boisterously scream “it’s blood for oil” when a someone steps up and takes out a bully in the name of freeing the oppressed. In fact, it’s dementia. And yes, innocent people die in war. Blood is spilled and people suffer. But no more so than they would have by being buried alive in a mass grave with 3000 of their other fellow citizens for doing exactly what you are doing on IMC: “Expressing your political opinion.”
I mean, if a fascist was really in charge in America, don’t you think you’d be one of the first to be bulldozed over? Of course you would be. But you’re not. You’re alive and able to tell your side, just like me. Shoot your mouth off, as good as any old fascist rightwinger. The difference is, I WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. I wanna know your position. And then I’m going to do everything I can to make you feel stupid for having it. Because if you’re an extremist liberal, you’re just wrong. On the wrong side of history and on the wrong side of the game.
But that’s just my opinion. And me? I’m nobody special. Just an opinionated Joe Schmuckatelli.
And yes, there are some bad bad bad CEOs out there. But I hate to break it to ya, but that’s the cost we pay in being free people. Take the good with the bad. Just like I have to live with the opinions of these indymedia turds, you’ve gotta live with a few bad bean CEOs. Big whoop. Corporations made this county as economically powerful as it is today. They do more for the common good than you will ever do in your lifetime. How many people have you fed in your life? McDonalds has fed Billions and Billions. Let me know when you get to your first million. I’ll be sure and pat you on the back.

that I just blistered you with a rant, and really didn't adress your main point. That being that the media is corporate controlled, and it's getting more so.
My appologies. I'll keep this short and sweet, if possible.
I agree with you. It's not a good thing. Not a whole lot I can do about it though, except recognize it for what it is. The stories slant and the corporate media is mostly entertainment. They'd like to sell us products, but I don't think it's a big conspiracy to control our collective mind and march us in to Baghdad just for the oil. That's patently absurd.
But like I said, not much I can do. I suppose I could start a website and allow "open publishing". But we see what that get's us. A bunch of kooks and goons, claiming intellectualism, and slighting each other every chance they get for entertainment. And then there are the conspiracy mongers. And the Hate America First 5th Column Lefitsts. And the Fascist KKKOBE rightwings and let the battle begin. They fuck each other over and here are the rest of us caught in the middle.
IMC. What a great idea!

The movie was good. Period. End of discussion. If you didn't like it, it's because you didn't understand what was going on. Write me a 500 word essay on "what you think 'The Matrix Reloaded' was about" and I might consider your opinion valid.
It wasn't better than the first one, but it was good. That's that.
Eric says "Two Thumbs up." Go pay your two bits and see it. It's worth the $7.50 that you get paid in one hour at your dead end job, to see it. It'll give you a short escape from the God forsaken realities that are your lives, which may help some of you liberals put away that bag of weed for a few hours while you are entertained. Others of you will just take your weed with you to the theater. Can't help those. Rehab couldn't help those. Not even socialistic, tax-payer provided rehab centers.

And it's Friday. I get to clock out in a few hours from my job here in Langley, VA. as a disinformation propagandist, and I won't have to worry about winning the hearts and minds of liberals around the world for America the beautiful, again until next week.

All you have to do is go back to the first Matrix and look at the very last scene in the movie. Remember when Neo suddenly becomes aware and sees the matrix for what it really is and kills Agent Smith. Then we see neo return to the matrix and the last thing he says is I'm gonna show these people whats really going on and the movie ends with that song by rage i was talking about. Now this was a wet dream for left wing conspiracy theorist liberals like myself. Another memorable scene was when neo was in his little cubical at work an then looks up and there is Agent Smith coming for him. That blew me away , its like if you step out of your little box Ashcroft and his agents are coming for you. This is not one memorable scence like this in MR2. They turned it into X-men or the Incrediable Hulk or Superman I mean come on is that what you were really expecting. Agent Smith is just a computer virus and Neo is now a glorifed super hero bullshit!

You’re reading too much into it. You bonded with the first one, because you wanted to. You saw a lot more political mumbo jumbo in there than was intended. Just like the religious freaks that read a bunch of anti-muslim crap in it what with Zion and Trinity and all that junk. It’s symbolism intended to spark those thoughts. But really, it’s just entertainment.
Now, Reloaded had a very similar climactic ending as the first one did. Think about it wave. Neo is only supposed to have his abilities when he’s in the matrix. Was he in the matrix at the end of the movie, when he did what he did? (don’t wanna give too much away for those that haven’t seen it). And what happened to him immediately after he did it? Drained him, just like a battery, didn’t it? I think I’ve spelled it out for you but maybe you should just think about it a little harder. And quit reading so much political crap into a sci-fi movie. Just be entertained. That’s why you went, right?
And how would you personify a computer virus in the Matrix if you wrote the script? I don’t think they could have done a better job than they did with Agent Smith. If he serves no other purpose than that, he at least provided all the computer savvy techno junkies with a few kicks. At first, when he showed up in the flick, I thought he was going to be on Neo’s side and help him out. I was dead wrong. But remember, there are subroutines serving subroutines in Reloaded. They’re like minions. And Smith also showed that Neo was not all powerful at that point in the movie, because he could be overwhelmed and forced to retreat. I think they did a good job getting the point across. But like I said, some people just won’t get it. But I’m certain there’s much more of a purpose for Smith than what we saw in Reloaded. Remember, there’s a sequel coming out in November and I bet you a coke right now, Smith’s role will become all too clear in that one.
by Eric
Saturday, May. 17, 2003 at 6:14 PM
And in the first Matrix, neo did not suddenly “become aware and see the matrix for what it really was”. At that point he already knew what the matrix was. It was software.
What happened was that he suddenly realized that he understood the code of the software and could manipulate the system from within itself, for his own best interests. Sounds a lot like conservative ideology to me. By using the system to his advantage, he could become all powerful because he was no longer bound by the rules of the system at all. If he didn’t like a rule, he could change it. Even the Agents were bound by the rules of their programming.

I think I'll have to watch it a few more times to try to match up the symbolism in correlation to the original movie. I think that the important thing to remember is the different philosophical concepts that are brought to light.
The concept of choice and freewill.
Questioning things and asking "Why?"
To issues of cause and effect.
The teleological concept of a persons relevance on Earth.
Epistemological levels of human conception.
I dont know. The fight scenes were pretty cool I think the film might have been edited down a little more maybe 20 mins less?
Over all it was a good flick.

And I just wanted to provide some of my valuable insights on where the plot lies...
It's a matrix in a matrix. Neo still had power to kill those spider things, remember? And the orphan gave him the spoon. emember that? That spoon does not exist, therefore Zion was not real, it was just another construct of a matrix. And Agent Smith morphed into that traitorous dude in Zion, remember. Agent Smith can't exist outside the matrix.
Therefore, it can only be a matrix inside a matrix as a method of control. In fact, it is probably multiple interlaced matrices.
But it doesn't mater even if it's an infinite number of matrices. Once Neo realized the matrix in a matrix thing, that's it. Neo will have to wake everyone up.
Game over for the machinces.

Bush equated with Hitler in 'Matrix' sequel? Image of president shown with dictator in discussion of evil
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: May 22, 2003 1:00 a.m. Eastern
By Joe Kovacs © 2003 WorldNetDaily.com
Is President Bush equated with Adolf Hitler in the science-fiction flick "The Matrix Reloaded"?
The question is being asked in connection with a scene in the new movie where images of Bush and the German dictator are displayed during a discussion of evil in the world.
"If they're saying our president is in the same league as Adolf Hitler, then I don't want to see this movie," says Mark Szorady of Rome, Ohio.
The 44-year-old cartoonist tells WorldNetDaily he has no idea if that's the intent of the filmmaker, but his curiosity has been piqued by reviews and online discussions of the blockbuster.
"The Matrix Reloaded" continues the story of mankind's struggle against machines which use artificial intelligence to enslave the human race in a dream world.
TV screens behind Keanu Reeves in 'The Matrix Reloaded' (Warner Bros.)
During the scene in question, actor Keanu Reeves – who portrays the hero "Neo" – is standing in front of a large bank of video screens as he discusses mankind's history with the designer of the computer-simulated world which is called "the Matrix."
Images of wickedness begin to rapidly flash on the monitors, including photos of nuclear warfare and notorious killers.
"When the architect of the Matrix describes the folly of man," Scott Bowles of USA Today says, "look at the screens behind Neo, which show images of a historical monster and a contemporary president."
The historical monster to whom he refers is Hitler, and the president is George W. Bush, as well as his father for a brief moment.
"Discussion of evil in the world and flashing the picture of our president. Why?" asks Szorady. "Are they saying he's evil? ... I'd like to see this thing frame-by-frame."
The scene is also sparking chatter on the Internet about possible intended messages.
"If the Matrix films, the most philosophically challenging movies to be produced in a generation, reveal any obvious signs of the politics of its makers, then this subliminal equation (Hitler=Bush?) is it," writes the Today newspaper of the Philippines in an editorial about "Reloaded."
Messageboard threads on Yahoo and Free Republic.com include a host of reactions which span the political spectrum:
"[Bush is] appropriately just to the right of Hitler."
"This flick is off my list! I'm not even interested anymore!
"Although it was not up long, it was safe to say that over half the audience recognized the dig at the president as well as the context that it was in – that President Bush was a negative part of human history."
"I saw it. The TV monitors show Nazis, Hitler, and an atomic explosion, and somewhere in the midst of all that the face of George W. Bush can be seen for a second or so. Why would such a peace-loving president so emotionally engaged with the struggle of the common man ever be included alongside such dark images? What could the filmmakers have been thinking? Is it too late to start a boycott of this film? ... Maybe if enough pressure can be exerted, they can have the offensive image removed before they press the DVD!" Contributors to Free Republic have even posted the images of Hitler and the Bushes from the movie in at least one discussion thread.
A spokesperson for the Warner Bros. studio told WorldNetDaily the company was reviewing the sequence in question to be "accurate" for any comment regarding the alleged Bush-Hitler connection.
Placing presidents in works of pop culture is certainly nothing new for the entertainment industry, as productions have featured both footage of elected leaders and actors portraying real-life officials.
Some have obvious comedic value, like in "The Pink Panther Strikes Again," where then-President Gerald Ford was lampooned as a stumbling buffoon more concerned with a college-football score than saving the world from a doomsday scenario.
President George H.W. Bush was cast in a less than flattering light during the Irish rock band U2's 1990 "Zoo TV" tour, as fans viewed a host of political images on giant video screens culminating with a text caption telling the audience, "It's your world, you can change it."
Meantime, "The Matrix Reloaded" is already among the biggest financial smashes in movie history, grossing $134.3 million during its first four days, nearly matching the entire amount the first "Matrix" collected in its first five weeks.
It's expected to become the most successful R-rated film ever released, needing at least $234.8 million to match the current No. 1, "Beverly Hills Cop."
"I think it will easily do over $300 million," box-office analyst Robert Bucksbaum of ReelSource Inc. told the Los Angeles Daily News.
