I hope the people pictured are identified and punished for their disgraceful actions.
Pillaging the place like a barbarian horde. Ugh. Way to represent America, pinheads.

I think you are jumping to conclusions about what is happening there. Of course they might be looting (and if so we have their photos) but we dont know that.

A squad of American soldiers was patrolling along the Iraqi border. To their surprise, they found the badly mangled dead body of an Iraqi Soldier in a ditch along side the road.
A short distance up the road, they found a badly mangled American soldier in a ditch on the other side of the road, who was still barely alive. They ran to him, cradled his blood-covered head and asked him what had happened.
"Well," he whispered, "I was walking down this road, armed to the teeth.
I came across this heavily armed Iraqi border guard. I looked him right in the eye and shouted, "Saddam Hussein is an unprincipled, lying piece of trash!" He looked me right in the eye and shouted back, "Bill Clinton, Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy and most of your Democrats are unprincipled, lying pieces of trash too!"
"We were standing there shaking hands when the truck hit us."

...looting, of course they deserve punishment.
However, none of us here know the situation, and we shouldn't pass judgement until the truth is known.

I know the situation. The situation is that this is a forgery.
The gentleman on the left is a member of the 3rd Infantry Division - an Army outfit. The gentlemen on the right are Marines. The arms and implement of the Marine on top are blurry. Forged.

The piggy back boys are moving, hence, the blurs. The shadows are consistent. We know that marines will steal anything not watched or welded down.

. . .that it may be a bit premature to determine if Marines were looting at all. If so, then they should be punished. But let's not pee ourselves just yet.
Maybe they just wanted to get a closer look at something.

To prove me wrong, kindly link the original source.

Isn't it interesting that a photo of a 3rd ID soldier looking off into the distance is married to a shot of two marines who were destroying a picture of Saddam Hussein is photoshopped without documentation or URL and passed off as proof of American looting.
You people are children. Prove it's authenticity or admit your damnable lying forgery.

Want to prove that the photo is a forgery or that US forces didn't loot the museum, do the research your self! And you will need more reliable sources than Fox News or any TV media.Read a book or too? What is the significance of the looting of the Iraqi museum? Much like the destruction of the library in Alexandria. This is not Iraqi history this is the "cradle of ALL civilization" How hard would it have been for those marines and the tank to stay and quard over the museum to prevent further looting? That is all it would have taken a little consideration. Responisbility lies with Bush for this crime he had the power yet not the will to do anything about it because he is too concerned with world domination. Nothing is going to be able to repair this problem all the 170,000 artifacts are gone, records destroyed and many of the artifacts had yet to be studied. The looting of the Bagdhad museum will go down in history to be all that is remember as time goes by even when Sept 11 is forgotten. Those who argue that it is not the reponsiblity of the americans and that the Iraqis are to blame, that is insane. First this would not have happened if the Americans did not invade Iraq. Secondly someone has to take responsibility, its not going to be Saddam's regime because they were displaced by the time it happened. Our troops were in Bagdhad, anarchy was expected, therefore our troops should have guarded the Museum as one of the key sites to be protected. War with Iraq is a Bush thing, it is his responsibilty b/c this is his war. There is a total lack of new coverage discussing this issue. Why would anyone ever think and American are stupid? Simon why don't you answer this question just so all the world will know exactly why people think so, myself included.

The photo at the beginning of this thread shows what looks to be military personnel looking around, certainly don't see any loot being carried off! There are several questions that have not been answered:
1. Was there really any item of value in the museum, Saddam had just recently reopened the museum, did Saddam put the real stuff back?
2. The Museum Curator was interviewed in December 2002, he said that the contents could be removed in 24 hours if there was a threat to the museum, so did they move the stuff?
3. Was the contents of the museum cleared out by thieves while the Coalition was still outside of Baghdad?
If you didn’t support the war, is this issue of the museum the last battle ground for some vindication of sore losers. Look at the over all picture of what was not destroyed and look back in history of wars to see what has been lost. The neigh sayers need to face up and eat crow, this war was done with great expertise. Lets hope that other Third World Thugs got the point!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A35080-2003Apr24.html "BAGHDAD, April 24 -- The word went out last Friday: Hundreds of millions of dollars in cash were left behind in bricked-up buildings inside one of fallen president Saddam Hussein's palace compounds. Before long, U.S. officers said, a half-dozen U.S. soldiers had stashed away $12.3 million for themselves." No... a bunch of heavily armed 20 yr olds wouldn't loot. Never. I can just see the warfucks response... 'but we're talking about that photo above... he's not selling it in the photo so how do you know he's really "taking" it... maybe he's just adjusting it...oh, and bomb syria.'

Good to hear from you, POIO. Looks like IMC LA is getting hammered again. Cracks me up when a real photo comes up showing GI's 'ajusting' a piece of art, then we hear about all SORTS of looting. When I was in the Infantry, our CO was responsible for our actions and heads would have rolled. This must be the new army. BTW, I guess we should keep the windows up once they are open. At least the 'adding a comment' link works for now.

33. The great grand total of looted 'archeological treasures' from Iraq is 33. Not 100,000. Not 270,000.
33.
Like the number on a bottle of Rolling Rock.
Meyer London and Parmenides I am still waiting for your apologies for your lies and slander about American soldiers looting Iraqi museums.
33. You guys are a joke.
Oh, and the whole thing was an inside job.
