How Americans are feeling about thiis war

by das Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 3:58 PM

Here's what the man in the street is thinking.

It's interesting to read the spin doctoring that goes on in the liberal media worldwide.

Here are some impressions as to where the average American stands on the war at this time:

1 - There is no interest whatsoever in any sort of negotiated peace or peace process that might leave the Baath Party in power. Unconditional surrender is the only option.

2 - As the Iraqis execute prisoners, employ suicide bombers, use their own civilian women and children as shields, etc. they anger the American public. This increases public confidence in GW Bush and his administration.

3 - Countries like France, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc. are generally viewed as a part of the problem rather than a part of the solution.

4 - Tony Blair's stock has risen markedly. He's being viewed as someone who is leading Britain back to the first rank among nations, while France and Germany flounder.

5 - The UN, already suspected to be an expensive do-nothing organizaton, is starting to look a lot like the League of Nations. The question on everyone's mind regarding the UN is, "Do we need it?"

6 - The war is going very well. Our troops have advanced over great distance in minimal time. Iraq's military is suffering defeat after defeat. The only unknown is when will Saddam's regime fall.

7 - We clearly elected the right guy when we elected GW Bush. He and his team have made the tough decisions and are being proven right. That was abundantly clear in Afghanistan, and is becoming even clearer in Iraq.

8 - We're really tiring of the so-called Anti-War Protesters. Whenever they hold a protest march, or pop up on TV they raise hackles, and not sympathies. They're being viewed as enemy sympathizers rather than peace advocates. The perception is that their idea of peace amounts to little more than appeasement and would leave Saddam in power, the latter being unthinkable.

WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GET THIS SHIT FROM?

by Fuck Bush Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 4:05 PM

Like...how many days did it take you to think this through - NOT!?!?!

Try again, and this time: TRY PUTTING YOUR BRAIN IN GEAR BEFORE YOU TYPE A POST.

Brilliant rebuttal FB

by Bush Admirer Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 4:17 PM

Nice the way you carefully rebutted each point with depth and intellect FB. You're so smart.

Dear DAS:

by Sheesh Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 4:30 PM

Duh...your as dumb as Dubya.

The man in the street thinks this shit? GMAFB. Where the fuck did you dig up this BS?

Take a long hard LQQK at the facts: The anti-war movement is growing and not going away. We are just at the beginning.

I remember Vietnam. There were virtually NO protestors when Vietnam started. The first day of the shit from Bush and his illegal war, there were nearly riots in the streets over it. It is not going to get less, dummy, it is going to get bigger. People are pissed off. Look who the fuck is supporting this internationally. Turkey will not even let US-Brit troops across its borders. Hint, hint, hint. Can you hear me now?

Another thing, you stupid piece of shit, back in the 60's, it was primarily all of the college students and young people out on the streets and protesting (and smoking dope). Look at the anti-war photos now - it is a cross-section of ages and people. Get it yet? Bush made a major mistake - let alone that it was immoral and illegal. He figured that he could just do what the fuck he wanted to do and only a few people on the fringe would object - like in the 60's. THIS IS NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING.

He thought he could save himself from being a one-termer like Daddy with his own version of Desert Storm. It is not working out the way he thought. They were not and are not prepared for they resistance they are meeting in Iraq. And they sure as fuck did not anticipate the immediate resistance from the American public.

If the anti-war movement is like this now, just wait a few months while we watch American soldiers come home in body bags. Do you, you dumb piece of shit, think the man in the street is gonna still wanna kiss Georgie's Nazi ass? I think not.

PS: Think before inserting right wing foot in mouth. You are a total fool.

BTW: You stupid piece of shit: Approx 50% of the population of Iraq are under the age of 15. Bush is nothing more than a mother fucking, lying bully with a hidden adenga: OIL.

Get a clue.

THIS POST IS SO BAD...

by Thomas Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 4:38 PM

Das:

I don't even know where to start to respond to this bilge. You cannot seriously believe what you have written. For example, that the war is going well. Have you even looked at a main line paper today? Try reading at least some of the moderate commentary before you made remarks which make you appear utterly foolish.

I work in a very conservative setting and I can tell you that the atmosphere has even changed there. The "rah-rah" Bush support is dwindling and not gathering force. In fact a few of the hawks have become a bit dove-like.

You appear to have your head buried in the sand and at the same time seek daylight. It does not work that way. Your thought are conclusionary and ridiculous. You gloss over issues and it appears that you may believe that if you say it, that is the way it will be or should be.

That das post seems to have gotten the lefties riled up.

That's because each and every point raised there is 100% correct.

Truth is something that liberals just can't stand. It really makes them squirm.

das point #8 is especially true (and especially makes them squirm because in their hearts they know it's true, and they hate the truth).

Their replies are all just rants with no substance. The anti-war movement is dead on arrival and is now pissing people off.

It's so darned beautiful when somebody (das, in this case) on this forum provides a rational, truthful, well-thought-through statement.

The regulars {lefties, fascists, nostalgic hippies, naive kids, skinheads, neo-nazis, etc} on this forum never have a rebutal to the truth. They just call names and post phoney conservative messages.

Very telling. The truth stands proudly.

Nice work, das. You've riled up the crazies in the asylum.

How Americans are feeling about this war

by das • Sunday March 30, 2003 Sunt 07:58 AM

“Here's what the man in the street is thinking.”

First lie - the author presumes to speak for this mythical “man in the street”. Which man in the street is that? Your average Sucker? Perhaps an out of work “honeybucket” attendant?

“It's interesting to read the spin doctoring that goes on in the liberal media worldwide.”

Actually I don’t find the spin that interesting. I much prefer the truth. The main “Spin Doctoring” going on is by the PR Shills for the Bush Junta trying to spin the fact that the Iraqi’s have not risen up to welcome their conquerors with love and admiration. Instead, as I predicted on this web site weeks ago, they have greeted them with “Small Arms” instead.

“Here are some impressions as to where the average American stands on the war at this time: “

Here again a lie. How does this clown KNOW where the “average” American stands? No evidence just a presumptive misrepresentation of the writer’s opinion superimposed on everyone else. Count me out on your phony War for Peace.

“1 - There is no interest whatsoever in any sort of negotiated peace or peace process that might leave the Baath Party in power. Unconditional surrender is the only option.”

Is this the same Baath Party the U.S. Government (C.I.A. supported Coup) put in power back in the early 60’s? If the Government is seeking unconditional surrender it is only that they want to put in place a more Pro-U.S. Oil Industry Regime, and one that takes dollars for Oil not Euros.

“2 - As the Iraqis execute prisoners, employ suicide bombers, use their own civilian women and children as shields, etc. they anger the American public. This increases public confidence in GW Bush and his administration. “

As the U.S. Government beats prisoners to death, disregards the Geneva Conventions and Bombs the shit out of innocent people the American Public is prevented from getting true reports by the Oil Soaked Spy Riddled Monopoly Media Presstitutes. Notice clowns like this are the first to yell bias if something they care about gets misreported in a negative way. I do not see them protesting the publication of False War Reports which make a U.S. humiliation into a glorious victory. The Iraqi’s have not used Suicide bombers. The use of human shields for troops is evil and I will not defend it. No one against the war has ever argued that the hands of this brutal regime in Iraq are clean. That is not the point of contention. It is whether we should have U.S. Troops in the desert dying so that the American Oil Industry can have direct access to Iraqi Oil without the inconvenience of having to pay for it?

“3 - Countries like France, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc. are generally viewed as a part of the problem rather than a part of the solution. “

The result of a very effective Black PR campaign with willing accomplices in the so-called American Mainstream Press. If you believe lies you will reach false answers.

And where is my price decrease in French Wines Damnit? You guys were the ones who called for a boycott of French Goods. If it was that effective I should be able to get a top notch Bordeaux for less than 20 Bucks a Bottle.

“4 - Tony Blair's stock has risen markedly. He's being viewed as someone who is leading Britain back to the first rank among nations, while France and Germany flounder. “

Tony Blair is hanging on by his finger nails and is walking the edge of a political precipice. U.K. Public opinion is over 70% against the War and with each day it drags on and the quick “clean” war that was promised turns into a Guerilla War quagmire and the casualties mount Phony Tony is going to be dusting off his Resume’. (A nice French word that Resume’) (Oops now the Rubes will have to come up with a new name - any suggestions gang?)

“5 - The UN, already suspected to be an expensive do-nothing organization, is starting to look a lot like the League of Nations. The question on everyone's mind regarding the UN is, "Do we need it?" “

Neutered by the Bush Junta because they could not get authorization for an illegal War of Conquest. I just can’t believe that U.N. they would note vote yes even after that great Dossier (another French word) that Colin, I’ve got the proof in my hands, Powell presented.

“6 - The war is going very well. Our troops have advanced over great distance in minimal time. Iraq's military is suffering defeat after defeat. The only unknown is when will Saddam's regime fall. “

The war is not going at all the way the Rosy Scenario gang said it would. It turns out the strategy was based on rigged War Games (Lt. General USMC Paul Van Ripert blew the whistle on that one). The only unknown is what the multiplier will be on the number of U.S. Casualties - 5X? 10X? 20X?

“7 - We clearly elected the right guy when we elected GW Bush. He and his team have made the tough decisions and are being proven right. That was abundantly clear in Afghanistan, and is becoming even clearer in Iraq. “

He was not legally elected and his team has been wrong at every turn, caught lying repeatedly, and have been proven wrong in that the Iraqi people are not at all happy to be Liberated to death.

“8 - We're really tiring of the so-called Anti-War Protesters. Whenever they hold a protest march, or pop up on TV they raise hackles, and not sympathies. They're being viewed as enemy sympathizers rather than peace advocates. The perception is that their idea of peace amounts to little more than appeasement and would leave Saddam in power, the latter being unthinkable.”

The last here is all PR Spin of the day shit. The negative images on the Boob Tube are PR and PsyOps (remember CNN got caught with PsyOps people running their “News Room” in the last Gulf Massacre.

The Appeasement versus Peace is vintage PR - Focus Grouped and tested to be the most negative way to pillory those who insist on trying to figure out what is really going on and to believe unquestioningly the latest Pro-War PR line.

Their is not an original thought in this entire screed. It is all agitprop designed to piss people off, consists primarily of lies and half truths, but mostly lies, and is worthy only of being plopped into the ceramic bowl and flushed.

Diogenes

by truthlover Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 3:55 AM

Thanks for sorting that out. I was too lazy to do it myself. I just tend to believe any conservative no matter what foolishness comes out of their mouth. My critical thinking skills have atrophied.

"The main “Spin Doctoring” going on is by the PR Shills for the Bush Junta trying to spin the fact that the Iraqi’s have not risen up to welcome their conquerors with love and admiration."

Every single mainstream media outlet I have viewed or read makes the point clear that Iraqis are not welcoming the Coalition Forces with open arms. They also point out, ad nauseum, that the Coaliton forces are facing stronger resistance than they (the media, at least) anticipated.

================

#2

"How does this clown KNOW where the “average” American stands? No evidence..."

Wrong. Every poll indicates that das's assessment is correct.

================

#3

"Is this the same Baath Party the U.S. Government (C.I.A. supported Coup) put in power back in the early 60’s?"

The Baath party is no longer a friend of the US government. Times change. Remember, in the 1960s, we were allied with Egypt and not with Israel.

#4

"one that takes dollars for Oil not Euros."

Your knowledge of economics is as underdeveloped as your knowledge of politics. The US Treasury has been actively trying to devalue the dollar for a few years now.

"The Iraqi’s have not used Suicide bombers."

Perhaps you should Tariq Aziz or Taha Yassin Ramadan, as they have not only admitted it, but claim more are on the way.

"(UK) Public opinion is over 70% against the War"

From the Guardian, March 25:

The outbreak of war has triggered a big surge in support for military action against Iraq among British voters, according to the latest Guardian/ICM tracker poll.

The 15-point swing in public opinion recorded by the ICM survey means that there is now a clear majority, 54%, who back military action, after a sharp rise from 38% just a week ago. The results represent a sudden and widespread shift in public mood in Britain.

Opposition to the war has slumped in the past seven days from 44% to only 30% of the public, the lowest level since the Guardian began tracking public opinion on this issue last August.

==================

"(das's statements) consists primarily of lies and half truths, but mostly lies..."

Nice try. See above.

GEE, BA,

by Fuck Bush Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 2:02 PM

On Saturday, the 29th, the pro-Bush, pro-war people held their little rally at the fed bldg on Wilshire. From what I saw, it was not just a spontaneous thing. They had a permit and had advertised the event. About 60 people showed up.

On Sunday, the anti-war supporters met at Pershing Square and marched on the downtown fed bldg. It would appear that they numbered in the several thousands.

I have some real doubt abouth those polls from what I have seen.

Personality Types

by PSY Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 2:17 PM

This has been explained. Left-wingers are generally very "needy" people who find comfort in expressing themselves in groups and being in close proximity of those who feel the same. They talk out and express their emotions and it makes them feel better. Right-wingers are generally very independent and don't find it necessary to congregate together to express themselves. It's just the different personality types and nature of the two viewpoints. The polls are accurate.

Alto.

by Sheepdog Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 3:07 PM

To PSY(ops)

Keep repeating the lie.

Again&again&again.

Not here, we know the tricks because we learn and

you only have a few.

You always use the same ones because they used to work.

News for the enemy. This is a new game and you don’t control the rules. Not anymore.

You see, people adapt and we are adapting faster than you.

This is easy to explain. We have a soul that provides inspiration and you don’t. -S

No Tricks

by PSY Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 3:19 PM

There's no tricks on my part. Left-wing is primarily emotional. Right-wing is primarily analytical. Emotion held beliefs require a support group. Analytical doesn't. This is not a right or wrong thing. That's just how it works.

Man, I hate facts!

by Liberal Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 6:21 PM

The latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted

Saturday and Sunday, shows 70% of Americans in

favor of the war and 27% opposed, virtually identical to

the support measured last week.

Bush's overall job approval rating is at 71%, about the

same as it has been since the war began.

In the wake of criticism that the war is going worse

than anticipated, 72% of Americans say U.S. military

action is going according to plan, while 25% disagree.

Three-quarters of Americans, 74%, say the United

States and its allies are winning the war, unchanged

from March 24-25.

Spin Lover you need a new cause to lie for.

by Diogenes Tuesday, Apr. 01, 2003 at 7:01 PM

Well Spin Lover,

Nice try, no Cigar. Your attempt to spin my reply fails even cursory analysis. I doubt that anyone who thinks for themselves will find your attempt very convincing, but should anyone doubt that I do not have the resources to back up my position well, read on.

“Every single mainstream media outlet I have viewed or read makes the point clear that Iraqis are not welcoming the Coalition Forces with open arms. They also point out, ad nauseum, that the Coaliton forces are facing stronger resistance than they (the media, at least) anticipated.”

Delivered in “soft-sell” sound bites. The “mainstream” is doing it’s job by following the “limited hang-out” route. Typical PsyOps PR - when discovery is inevitable you put out a counter story acknowledging elements of the truth and then Spin it in another direction or to a less damaging conclusion. Nothing hard hitting suggesting that the top Brass was repeatedly overruled by Rummy. General Van Ripert - whom I mentioned in my prior post played the Iraqi leadership in the War Games staged to test strategy (which surfaced several months before the war at “MilitaryCorruption.com”. Lt. General Van Ripert was able to defeat the Coalition Forces very handily. The game was then rolled back and the “Restart” Button hit. His hands were tied and he registered a major protest. There is no “Restart” Button in the real world. The reality is that the U.S. Strategy was majorly flawed, relied on false Rosy Scenario’s, and is now entering into a temporary stalemate. Been there done that - I know how the Brass will Paint Lipstick on a Pig. I have read the reports after a Field Exercise - which bore no resemblance to the reality of the Exercise.

Polling is subject to manipulation and error. It is also subject to outright lying. Polls can be slanted by the way the question is asked, the questions and information preceding the questions, and by “selective sampling” i.e., calling into areas of known high support. Frankly in my non-insular experience - other than the handful of people attending Pro-War Rallies - I know exact 3 people who give their complete support to this action and one reservedly. All 3 are avid Talk Radio Listeners (which I used to be - and from what I have listened to lately Talk Radio has become unrelentingly PRO-War and Government Party Line. I have caught Rush in multiple misstatements (lies?) in my few attempts at recent listening. Since I decline to be spun I, and I hope many others, are tuned out.

Polls are also transient and subject to change and manipulation by what is communicated through the Spy Riddled, Oil Soaked, Monopoly Press. Very instructive is the breakdown of support. People who get their news primarily from Radio and Television are in the “for” column in the main. People who get their news and information from other sources, such as the Internet, are largely against. Those are generalizations which I freely admit. I am not going to sugar coat it or spin it - people are subject to manipulation through control of the information they receive. False Data = False Conclusion.

“The Baath party is no longer a friend of the US government. Times change. Remember, in the 1960s, we were allied with Egypt and not with Israel.”

Evidently you had no effective way to counter this so you fall back on canards. This simply exists to illustrate that while the people of the United States are told otherwise through the controlled presstitutes that the U.S. Government has, and continues to in other countries, support Bloody Handed Despots as they serve the interests of the elites who control our “freely elected Government”. It is Bullshit and you know it is Bullshit.

As for your second point on Egypt - that is not really true and you know it. Don’t have the time for a full refutation as it is a side issue, but a review of what was really going on at the time shows that even then the U.S. had a slavish bent toward Israeli desires. Do a search on “The Lavon Affair”. Take a look at what the Israeli’s did to the U.S.S. Liberty and how our Government has willingly covered up the Death of U.S. Servicemen in a failed attempt by the Israeli’s to plant a False Flag on the destruction of a U.S. Ship.

__________________________________________________________________

“Your knowledge of economics is as underdeveloped as your knowledge of politics. The US Treasury has been actively trying to devalue the dollar for a few years now. “

Your “rebuttal” is not. The U.S. Treasury has little real control over the value of the Dollar. It has propped up the Dollar by “Buying Dollars” in the International Markets. The PRIVATELY OWNED Federal Reserve Bank does have the control and has been exercising it to protect the Value of THEIR Federal Reserve Notes (which is not a legal U.S. Currency, but it would take too long to go into the grimy details - but it fails, at a minimum, the Constitutional Requirements for Legal Money). The U.S. Money Supply, measured in M2 has been INFLATING at about 3 times the Real Growth Rate of the Economy. This is verifiable by comparing the Growth in GDP versus Rate of Growth of M2 (and M2 is the Benchmark for most analyses). (For the uninitiated the quantity of Money is circulation is measured by several standards M1, M2, M3 and L being the most common. Look them up on line and you can find good simple definitions. I recommend it as the more you know about basic Economics the less likely you are to be hornswoggled by Idiots like Truthlover Lite.)

The alleged devaluation is INFLATION which reduces the Marginal Value of each subsequent dollar printed.

“Inflation is a Monetary Phenomenon.” Milton Friedman Nobel Laureate in Economics

With Iraq’s switch to the Euro as their Oil Currency the implied threat was that the Arab World would follow suit. The U.S. Currency is grossly inflated and subject to shocks in the International Currency Trading Markets. To a large degree the Dollar’s Value is Propped up by it being the established International Exchange Currency. If it were supplanted by the Euro, which continues to gain in value relative to the Dollar, the U.S. Debt Position falls apart like a cheap Suit in a Rain Storm. In short - Financial Collapse of the House of Cards.

U.S. Defending Dollar Against Euro: http://www.rense.com/general36/euro.htm

Despite continued intervention in the International Bullion Markets Gold, a traditional store of value, has increased in price by about 100 Dollars Per Ounce in the past year. Without Large Banks, and Central Government Banks, “Selling into the Market” to keep the price down we would see a raging increase in the value of Gold and the subsequent catastrophic devaluation of the Dollar. The elites do not want to see their paper go down the shitter.

Your knowledge of Economics is pitiful. You don’t even want to get into this with me because I will take you apart.

On the subject of Suicide Bombers I stand corrected. However, I would point out that Iraq had no, none, nada, nonewhatsoever, incidence of this prior to the INVAZion of Iraq.

British MP Sees Catastrophe Ahead

by Sanjay Suri

“LONDON, Mar 29 - Labour Party MP Tam Dalyell, revered as the 'father' of the British Parliament, sees catastrophic times ahead if the war on Iraq continues.

”God only knows how this will end,” Dalyell told IPS in an interview Saturday. ”But if it must be ended sensibly, ”I can only say that there should be a ceasefire forthwith that is mandated and administered by the UN. It is clear already that this talk of achieving a regime change is fanciful.”

Dalyell said: ”They have not just miscalculated, they have completely misunderstood the nature of Iraqi society and its institutions.”

"(UK) Public opinion is over 70% against the War"

From the Guardian, March 25:

“The outbreak of war has triggered a big surge in support for military action against Iraq among British voters, according to the latest Guardian/ICM tracker poll.

The 15-point swing in public opinion recorded by the ICM survey means that there is now a clear majority, 54%, who back military action, after a sharp rise from 38% just a week ago. The results represent a sudden and widespread shift in public mood in Britain.

Opposition to the war has slumped in the past seven days from 44% to only 30% of the public, the lowest level since the Guardian began tracking public opinion on this issue last August.”

Ibid. My comments previous on the veracity of Polling. Particularly in a Wartime Propaganda environment.

Polling is Volatile and subject to distortion. It is at best a snapshot of the previous 24 hours “News” Cycle.

Like most Spin Artists you are long on personal attacks and short on facts. Tell your research staff at Langely that they need to work harder.

As a final note I find it amusing that the same people who were complaining of the manufactured results of Clinton Era Polling are the very same who now trumpet the veracity of Bush Era Polling. Go figure?

Yeah, right. That's why Baghdad is surrounded and we're bombing the shit outta their military's command and control. Save it for the dead of mind, otherwise known as the left.

Oh, I see. That long thing you wrote which has no basis in reality. It was disputed by this..............

>The reality is that the U.S. Strategy was majorly flawed, relied on false Rosy Scenario’s, and is now entering into a temporary stalemate.

Yeah, right. That's why Baghdad is surrounded and we're bombing the shit outta their military's command and control. Save it for the dead of mind, otherwise known as the left.

The Eloquence of the Pro-War NeoCONs needs no further illustration. Such a convincing regurgitation of the Party Line.

Stalin and Hitler would be proud of you.

I think you'll find, Mr. F.B., that the former Governor of Texas, Mr. George W. Bush, is now the President of the United States. He won election to that office in November of 2000.
