Take a few precious minutes for something that should work - Uniting for Peace!
The the way the U.N. keeps the peace when a permanent member of the Security Council is an aggressor. Uniting for Peace (UN Resolution 377) empowers the General Assembly to call up peacekeeping troops, when the Security Council is blocked - as it has been for months. Because keeping the peace is the U.N.'s basic mission, the General Assembly can call on members within 24 hours "to take effective collective measures for the prevention...
of acts of aggression."
It’s a last chance to save the children of Baghdad from the Mega-Terror of "Shock, Awe" and hundreds of thousands of horrible deaths.
I ask the United Nations in this great time of trouble to do anything and everything they can within their power to stop the George Bush Nazi war machine. It is the ultimate hypocrisy (equivocal only to Adolf Hitler)to use 6000 bombs on innocent people, including our own soldiers to try to aquire peace. george bush is a madman and he needs to be stopped.
It would best be advised for those wanting rational people to take them seriously to stop equating Bush with Hitler. I’m as anti-bush as the next guy but there’s hyperbole and then there’s moronic hyperbole—Bush equals Hitler crosses that line.
Greg you're a real rational guy, I mean perhaps you can rationally tell me how George Bush took control of the presidency of the United States illegally, how he has managed in the 2 years he has illegally occupied the office of the presidency to "rationally" usurp and erode our civil rights in this country, how he has introduced a climate of fear and terror all over the world. Have you heard of the very "rational" Total Information Network that John Ashcroft and the Bush War Machine want to impose on the people of the United States, how about the "very very rational"way Bush wants to ID all the immigrants in this country of immigrants(which would and will include everyone sooner or later)with special DNA ID. See Greg, the problem that I have with you is that you're just a little too rational for me. Like the reason you and me can't agree is while those 6000 "very rational" weapons of mass destruction that are hitting innocent civilians and killing all the women, children and men in their path you will rationally be saying ," I'm as much against Bush as the next guy but he is not Hitler"
Your comments are off topic, the topic being does George W. Bush bear comparison to Adolph Hitler. It’s easy to say, “Man, Bush is just Hitler for the 21st century”—effect everyone with a small amount of intelligence stops listening. You’ve rattled off a string of truthful generalizations (aside from your forgone conclusion about the DNA id) but have offered no insight, which tells me that you’re a concerned citizen who listens to NPR, Pacifica radio, reads the Nation, etc. and that’s a good thing. The point is that you should aim to effectively argue your point to people who are either uninformed, slightly informed or not of the same opinion as you. First of all, Bush is not intelligent enough to be Hitler. He’s just a big dummy with the hands of neocon chickenhawks like Wolfiwitz, Pearle, Rumsfeld, et al. up his ass. They want you to focus on the puppet, “please,” say these republicans, “call him Hitler, you’re only serving our ends and taking the attention of those of us who are the real architects of this New World Order.” Maybe you don’t have enough time develop a reasoned argument. Fine, many people don’t, but don’t undermine the cause of those who really do want to change the minds of the ignorant and under-informed with your Hitler comparisons. It’s a facile, moronic thing to say and does absolutely nothing to end the ignorance but only adds to it.
We need an argumentative workshop forum on this website.
