SUPPORT THESE TROOPS
When Travis Clark joined the U.S. military at age 19, it seemed like a good way to travel and pay for college. It was 1996, the country was at peace, and Clark signed on for an eight-year hitch.
Now, with a year left on his contract, the Marine reservist from Plantation, Fla., says he won't go if his unit is called to serve in a war against Iraq. He is adding his voice to a small chorus of like-minded military personnel who say they will not fight for a cause they do not support.
''This war is the wrong war,'' says Clark, 25. ''I can't put myself into the position of going into another country and forcing them to defend themselves against me.''

When he signed up for the benefits he new the responsibilities. I hope he does go AWOL, this will cut off all military benefits except may for some free housing in Fort Leavenworth. Clark wants the cream, but does want to pay fore it, fuck the little weasel!

Travis-Your a hero. Bush is a facist bastard. He should be impeached. We will intensify the antiwar movement to stop this criminal US war.

...men of conscience and honor.
It is the duty of an American Fighting Man to refuse an illegal order. This war contravenes the U.S. Constitution and I hope these Brave Men use that as their defense. The Bush Junta will have to suppress the trials to avoid having their actions put on public trial.
It takes great courage to NOT follow the herd. Our Brave Refuseniks are to be commended for their honor and COURAGE.

I hope he takes a bullet to the fucking head.
That is what he deserves. When you join the military, you take an oath. I'm sure some people didn't want to go to war during WWI and WWII, but if they didn't, we would all be speaking German right now and flying the Swastika as our national flag.
Get a fucking clue you Pro-Saddam assholes.

Jack, Get a clue. Equating Nazi Germany with current day Iraq is lame. You need to seriously improve your analytical skills. Or maybe you're aiming at working for Fox News one day. If so, you have the rhetoric pretty much down. Send in your application!
If not, you could start by looking at why Nazi Germany came to power in the first place. I'm not gonna do the work for you, so get crackin' you lazy SUV driving fundamentalist freak!! ;-)

... would you expect the same unswerving, unthinking obedience from a Nazi Stormtrooper?
How are the two different?
Blind, unreasoning, obedience is the philosophy of a slave not a free man.
America has always held to a higher standard. Do you think that should change?

you say: "I hope he takes a bullet to the fucking head."
this kind of talk drives people into the peace movement. after the soldier "takes a bullet to the fucking head" will you cheer and mock the horrible death of a "cowardly U.S. soldier"? very very few people in the USA will be attracted to such behavior. you are sick and normal people are afraid of you.
you say: "I'm sure some people didn't want to go to war during WWI and WWII"
that's right. and they were not sent to those wars for their own good. nor were they the beneficiaries of those wars. the war may have been undertaken to "support" some greater good, but nobody claims that those wars were undertaken to "SUPPORT THE TROOPS"
you say: "but if (the troops) didn't (go to war), we would all be speaking German right now and flying the Swastika as our national flag."
in other words, it is the english language and the U.S. flag which you "SUPPORT".... and not "the troops". you value the english language and the U.S. flag and these things were "supported", in a sense, by the soldiers. but i still don't see how you or anyone else "SUPPORTED" the troops themselves, except in ways that don't provide real well-being for them (like prayer, care packages, patriotic rallies, etc.)
you say: "Get a fucking clue you Pro-Saddam assholes."
in this repugnant way you lose more people who might otherwise support your war, IF you could explain the justice of this war.

Okay, lets see, Saddam practices ethnic genocide (8000 men, women and children who happen to be Kurds) by using chem/bio weapons on them, even though they are citizens of his country. Saddam used POWs from Iran for chem/bio weapon experiments and killed them all. Saddam warehouses food for his people so the world will see them starving, while he builds himself palaces and enjoys his billions. Saddam has ignored or violated 17 UN resolutions directed at his country much like you know who ignored The League of Nations. Yeah, I can see how you wouldn't see any similarities between Saddam and hitler. Makes perfect sense.
