Sitting in the Street and Disrupting Society

by Katie K Saturday, Mar. 22, 2003 at 4:57 PM

Sitting in the streets is fighting war with war.... come on now people.

This has got to be the most counter productive you people have had yet. Dubya is not going to stop the war because we disrupted the economy... No way, he'll just get aggressive and start using force on protestors... why? because they are now breaking the law. duh! Come one now people these actions are just as arrogent and antagonizing as the administration we're protesting. Please don't *try* to antagonize our police officers... the only outcome that could possible have is aggressive. Are you trying to instigate a war here on our streets? I don't agree with this administration either but fighting WAR with WAR is what we're protesting for god sake. Sure you all feel powerful when you sit in the streets, in the same way Dubya feels powerful when he disregards the UN. Sitting in the streets of Los Angeles is not going to change a damn thing. This arrogance will divide our movement.

fighting war with war

by mother of one Saturday, Mar. 22, 2003 at 5:07 PM

Not only is it couter-productive but it also makes it too risky for families to join in on the protest. i will not take my family into the middle of an aggressive situation... So our movement will loose the power in numbers. Fighting war by trying to provoke a war is just ignorant and arrogant. We are trying to prove that things can be dealt with without confrontation and aggression, yet we're provoking hostility. The hypocrisy is spreading rapidly and yes it will divide our movement. The police are there to protect and serve... many police offers assisted my family last night in finding the route accessable to get to the protest in Westwood. The only time I have seen a police officer get aggressive with a protestor is when the protestor was deliberately breaking a law. If we don't have to obey the laws of the land why should Dubya? Don't be a hypocrite... don't sit in the streets.

Read the Declaration of Independence

by Swamp Fox Saturday, Mar. 22, 2003 at 5:22 PM

You all miss the point. Our country wasn't founded by Sam Adams and George Washington walking around holding signs.

We owe it to society to try and resolve grievances by all peaceful means first. But when the government fails to listen and turns a deaf ear to the WORLD, further action is demanded.

We are now at the point when each new day could mean the loss of thousands of innocent lives.

Even if you, personally, decide not to take to the streets, please support our REAL troops. Back the Black Bloc.

the fear that Saddam will attack the US with WMD shows how PARANOID americans are.

they don't really know why he will attack

they just know he will

"we don't know what a nigger is, but we're just gonna hate 'em anyway"

AMERICAN HYPOCRISY

TO ANY PRO-WAR ADVOCATE

I DARE YOU TO REPLY TO THIS:

The US government supported Saddam during his most murderous years. They supplied him with WMD and the technology to make his own WMD. EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A KNOWN TYRANT. Why? So that he would use them on the Iranians. Even after Halabja in 1988, the US government CONTINUED to support him.

Now in the year 2003 (whether it is morally just or not), Saddam no longer wishes to play into US global strategy. So he is ALL OF A SUDDEN branded a TYRANT ------ EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A MURDEROUS TYRANT ALL THE YEARS THE US SUPPORTED HIM!

Isn't it hypocritical that although he was even more murderous back then, he was considered an ALLY and FRIEND OF AMERICA simply because he was killing Iranians (if 5,000 kurds happened to be gassed in a single attack thats no big deal). Now he's still murderous but now the US actually acknowledges that he is a tyrant. Imagine if he was still following US wishes by fighting with Iraq, would the US be calling him a TYRANT? I DON'T THINK SO.

HYPOCRISY HYPOCRISY HYPOCRISY.

Until the US apologizes to the victims of Saddam terror DURING THE YEARS THAT THEY SUPPORTED HIM, this war will only be about US PARANOIA and its attempts at gaining a FALSE sense of security.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

war advocates only want to see sand nigger blood being spilled. they try to improve the body count

2,500 Americans (WTC) < 100,000 Sand Niggers.

So they can feel better about themselves and feel as if they "won" the overall battle. Their oh so precious American pride was hurt on 9/11 and now they seek to get it back by killing sand niggers left rite and center

(basically this is the whole starship troopers scenario)

support black bloc?!

by eeyore Saturday, Mar. 22, 2003 at 6:09 PM

no fuckin' way! if black bloc stood behind their concvictions, they wouldn't cover their faces. they're no different than the kkk-both wear cowardly hoods, are destructive, devisive, enjoy mob mentality and are about hate. they're predominantly little teenyboppers who grew tired of pretending to be homeless and found a new toy to play with.

black bloc is just a bunch of brats looking for trouble, finding strength in the numbers of other mindless, revolutionary wannabees. if black bloc had a brain, even a collective one, they'd figure out how to do their own events--rather than break off from peaceful main events that people took a lot of time to plan. again, the cowardice is astounding. they can't organize themselves apart from a group because they use the main group "as cover" for their bullshit--much like our military.

don't get me wrong, i'm probably gonna push my luck and get arrested this weekend, but it will be a peaceful act of cd, not a mindless, unfocused act of cowardly aggression.

Like in the good old days in those snappy grey

uniforms and there was order.

Nice marching songs too.
