Again

a poem on the cycle of war

Again

A baby goes off to war

god against god

good against evil

a mother cries

a sister cries

again

they walk strong

with righteousness leading the way

justice in their heads

fear in their hearts

and blood on their hands

again

the buildings must fall

the sirens must ring

the fire must burn

ashes to ashes

dust to dust

again

the blade digs in deep

and twists to the left

and to right

a mother cries

a sister cries

again

the laughter is silenced

the innocence spoils

nightmares surround

another war

another child

lost

again
