700.000 in Milano, Italy

by sunshine Monday, Mar. 17, 2003 at 12:50 AM

700.000 people in Milano, Italy against war to Irak, for work rights and for migrant rights.

Today, March 15, a National rally organized by CGIL union occupied peacefully the center of Milano.

It was the biggest demonstration ever seen in Milano.

CGIL is the biggest union in Italy. It has been under attack by Italian government for more than one year for its capacity of organizing and directing the workers protests. It was CGIL alone that one year ago brought 3 millions people in the streets of Roma.

All the different "souls" of the Italian movement against the war joned the rally.

3 main different meeting points, from whom the streams of people moved towards the Central Station square.

When the CGIL general secretary Epifani finished his speech, 3 hours after the beginning of the rally, the square was full, the streets around were full too, but so many people were still marching on the way to it.

No reports in English language media

Most English language corporate media are ignoring the latest demos. No mention on the BBC, nor Guardian

Have you any photos to verify numbers?

This goes to show

This confirms, once again, that Italians are good at cooking and fashion, but lousy at politics.

Labor unions suck whether in Europe or the USA.

Your going to look at a photograph and varify that there was 700,000 protesters! But then again you guys use any method to inflate your numbers.
