U.S. Congress now serving "Freedom Fries"
Mar 12, 2003
France's refusal to back a U.S.attack on Iraq triggered House Administration Committee Chairman Bob Ney (an Ohio Republican), to have the menu at the Capital Hill cafeteria changed. "This action today is a small, but symbolic effort to show the strong displeasure of many on Capitol Hill with the actions of our so-called ally, France," said Chairman Ney.
"French fries" and "French toast" have now been replaced on menus with "Freedom fries" and "Freedom toast."
Ney's panel is in charge of the House's administrative needs. He took the action at the suggestion of Rep. Walter Jones, a North Carolina Republican. "I am grateful to Mr. Ney for standing with me today as we publicly declare our support for our nation's troops and our sincere disappointment in our old friends, the French," Jones said.
What a devastating critique of French foreign policy.
Freedom Fries. How lame. Such rabid neo-nationalism can not bode well. How bout we put all our cards down on the table and call 'em 'froggie fries'. or 'cheese-eating surrender-monkey fries'... we are such an embarassing "culture".
If nothing else, we should call 'em 'belgium fries', or similarly give them back to their actual inventors.
I'm not a huge fan of the french, never have been honestly, but this is stupid.
Brought to you by Christian hate groups wrapped in a flag.
I was wondering when these fools

Now, dude like,

Like fast food, dude. Like french fries, dude.
Yeah, french fries can be changed to freedom fries, dude.
And like, when your like going into Super-size your meal,
dude, you can say,
Hey, like give me an extra scoop of freedom, dude.”
