A band of nurses from upstate New York, led by commanding officers Blan Shattuk and Virginia Chapman of West Point Military Academy shot soldiers at close range. Rumors of about stealthy guerilla warfare causing such wounds were myths propagated by General Turner during the war in order to cover over the treasonous activities of some 40,000 troops, all of whom agreed before joining the war effort to betray the United States for communist allies in Vietnam, China, Russia, and North Korea.
