Germany, 9/11 and Iraq: Why Regime Change matters

by Leo Bauer Saturday, Feb. 01, 2003 at 1:04 AM

In the wake of 9/11 the foreign policy of historical revisionism of the Schröder-Fischer government has faced a strategic collapse which uncovered the roots of the conception. They are pointing to an extensive weakness in American post-1945 foreign policy which now can be corrected. In quest of an effective long-term strategy against global terrorism, Iraq could prove to be the prototype of a new post-war order.

Misery Loves Company

by Jason Saturday, Feb. 01, 2003 at 2:13 AM

A new world order in which the United States has become Israel: occupying an Arab country.

Our soldiers being picked-off by the (justifiably angry)local population. Our cities constantly being subject to (justified?) terrorist attacks.

A war that cannot be won. A war that will not end. A war that will, perhaps, be the end of the world.

And that's exactly why Sharon and his lobby want this war.

Misery loves company.

Thanks Israel!

Thanks Israeli lobby!

Sounds great!

Jason re Israel

by Bush Admirer Saturday, Feb. 01, 2003 at 3:07 AM

Jason, if you think Israel could buy peace with the Arabs merely by ceding the "Occupied Territory" and dismantling the settlements, you're wrong. Most of the Arab world wants nothing less than the total destruction f the state of Israel.

If the raison d'etre of the suicide bombings is the Israeli's alleged failure to give the Palestinians the "Occupied Territory", why did the Arabs wage war on the Israelis in 1948 and 1967?

Further, why do all you lefties focus solely on the Palestinians who claim to have lost their land? What about the 700,000 Jews who were kicked out of Arab countries when Israel came into existence?

Why is okay for close to a million Arabs to live, work and vote in Israel, which consists of about 4 million people, but it's not okay for 200,000 Jews to live in the "Occupied Territory" amongst 3 million Arabs?

Which Arab country has a free press? Is there anything approaching a Democracy in the Muslim world (with the possible exception of Turkey)?

Please provide a list of all Muslim countries in which women are anything less than third-class citizens?

There is an open and vocal "peace movement" in Israel. Name one Arab country in which there is a "peace movement".

Why is the existence of one tiny country, barely bigger than a postage stamp, so threatening to the 22 Muslim countries in the region?

I could go on, but you get the point.

If you cared for this country, you would not wish it to be in Israel's position. But you don't care, so you do.
