March and Rally for Peace February 15: Long Beach Residents Demand City Council Pass Anti-War Resolution
(Long Beach) February 15th has been declared a world-wide day of action against the Bush Administration's war on Iraq. Joining with dozens of cities in the U.S. and around the world, residents of Long Beach, the International City, will march to City Hall with petitions for an anti-war resolution for the City Council. The Long Beach Area Peace Network and other groups are sponsoring the march, which will assemble at 11:30 on the Long Beach Promenade at Broadway.
"The West Hollywood City Council approved a resolution which opposes military action in Iraq on Tuesday, January 21, joining 40 other U.S. cities. Long Beach should be next because we are an international city, with sister cities in Russia and Cambodia, places that have been devastated by war. We need to take a stand for world peace," said Gene Ruyle, C.S.U.L.B. anthropology professor and founder of the Peace Network.
Protesters will march north on Long Beach Blvd., west on 7th Street, south on Pine
