Quote From History

by Victory Is Certain Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at 4:08 PM

Please Fwd This Vital Piece Of Information

"Why of course the people don't want war... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."

-- Excerpt from the testimony of Hermann Goering, Hitler's designated successor,at the Nuremberg Trials.

Sad

That your view of people is similar to that of a fascist.

I think he's full of it.

The people are frequently, and in the US right now, very much behind the idea of going to war.

The American people are not, as you and the Nazi view them, sheep or lemmings.

They are capable of sizing up the situation and seeing that our national security is threatened and that we must make some sacrifices now, to ensure our safety in the future.

In the case of Iraq, there are those who would advise: give inspections a chance, only when inspections fail, should we consider war.

After 11 years, the American public is convinced that we HAVE given inspections a chance. They have failed.

That the best two leftists could do is offer up insults.

The ABC news article, by the way, simply shows that Bush is doing what the people want.

The fact that its not what want is what bothers you.

Not what want?

by Commie Bastard, Red, Pinko, Socialist Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at 8:24 PM

yer so funny..do you work for a think tank? by the way, do you always presume those who have different points of view other than yourself to be "leftists"? the fact that you responded in this manner proves your nothing but a milquetoast amigo...are you perturbed now...Bush Jr.? Your analytical/critical thinking skills need some sharpening....oh wait , im so sorry...i did not mean to insult you like a leftist would....i am a registered republican...hahahahaaa/////your still a dumbass.....and so am i /////hahahahahah....i think the house of un-american activities should be reinstated....

par for the course for this crowd; inane ramblings rather than logical argument.

Inspectors

by Sean Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at 10:01 PM

If we (the US) do not play by the rules of international law we so rightously invoke when it suits our needs, then why should anyone else in the world. The system only works because we all agree to it. If we do not follow the rules that are created then the game will fall apart. Now I am not saying that order is better then chaos, all things are equal in the eye of the universe, but what is more useful to those who have the most to lose?

Gee, sean

by T-Mex Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at 10:46 PM

That's almost a funny question!

Iraq disregards 11 years of UN resolutions. . . and your concern is the precedent that will be set by the US moving without UN support!!!

Why don't you ask this instead: If IRAQ ignores international law, what's to stop others from doing the same thing??

(Or do you think people of color are held to a lower moral standard than Euros??? "We can't really expect A-Rabs to act like civilized human beings.")

Or this: What kind of precedent would the US set by taking out one of the most brutal, oppresive dictators in our time, and certainly in the middle east??

Your buying all the lies that theyre selling you

First of all, the United States is the one (along with Israel) that doesnt sign UN antiterrorist resolutions or UN international court resolutions (while the rest of the free world does). Second, Iraqs "history of terror" has some questionable aspects. A... when Hussein used weapons of mass destruction aka missles n gas on Iran we were funding him, making us partners in that war crime we accuse him of, B... in 98 just before we didnt bomb Iraq again cause they kicked out inspectors, we pulled the inspectors, its a simple fact that people shake of with an air of Orwellian ignorance - there was an accusation of an assasination attempt on former pres Bush and we pulled our guys "in fear" but over time I guess the facts can change... check the facts for yourself www.un.org
