Protest Columbus Day at the San Juan Capistrano Mission!
Why-
Columbus did not discover "America," since Indigenous people were already here. What he did do was commit various crimes against us, such as: theft, genocide, ethnocide, rape, torture, slavery, and various other terrorist acts. There should not be a holiday commemorating him. Do not celebrate the origin of history's largest holocaust!
Junipero Serra is on his way to sainthood for establishing the California mission system, but what he actually created were concentration/death camps for California's Indigenous population. The same crimes that were committed by Columbus and his men were felt throughout the allegedly "holy" missions. The continued glorification of these missions is not justifiable.
When: October 12, 2002 10AM-12:30PM
Where: Mission San Juan Capistrano
The Mission is located 2 1/2 blocks west of Interstate 5 on Ortega Highway. From the Los Angeles area, take either Interstate 5 or Interstate 405 South to the second San Juan exit, which is Ortega Highway. Exit the freeway and turn right onto Ortega Highway. The Mission is straight ahead, approximately 2 1/2 blocks.
The protest will be followed by an educational presentation by the Cultural Center of Anahuac. They will discuss the implications of Columbus' arrival on October 12, 1492, and what happened at the California Missions. The presentation will take place at the Centro Cultural de Mexico at 1522 S. Main, in Santa Ana 92707, from 2:30 PM-5:30 PM.

is that the indigenous peoples of the Americas were able to live in complete harmony with each other in pre-Colombian times!
They had no wars, no rapes, no murders, no slavery, no pillaging.
It wasn't until the white man came here that all that happened.
How did they DO that?
(By the way: I got straight D-'s in history!)
Also by the way: I'm confused as to how the indigenous peoples of North America came to have a right to about 1/3 of the earth's surface area, in perpetuity.
Is it just that since there were no homo sapiens in the Western Hemisphere when their ancestors walked across the Bearing Straights -- therefore no one else is ever allowed into the western hemisphere?
Seriously, I'm confused.
(I'm also confused about the tremendous technology gap that existed between the Euros and Natives, but that's another story!)
If you want some answers to your questions, I highly suggest for you to come to the presentation after our protest. If not, please provide your e-mail, and we can discuss this further. It's too much information to post here.
Thanks.
...now if only you were....
