Palestine

by Jake Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2002 at 4:47 AM

Why?

Palestine has always been called the land of Israel why do you people have such a hard time understanding that maybe the arab world has never liked Jews and therefore is and has been plotting anyway to get support to get rid of them. The Arabs have repeatedly kicked Jews out of their countries and murdered them. They are not alowed to practice there religion in Arab countries. Why dont you understand this? Why is hard to understand that Arab Countries sent arabs To Israel in order to keep Jews from becoming a majority. Jordans population is half "Palestinian" who have never lived in Israel or Palestine the land of Israel. Why dont you understand this? Ok Israel should figure out away to deal with them non-violently but they are killing innocent children. Most Arabs moved to Israel to get jobs which the Israelis created this does not make them citizens this does not make Palestine the land of Israel a Palestinian state. It's unfortunate the name had to be changed in order to ge rid of these people who are making false accusations and are terrorist. Why doesnt Jordan who has the largest population of Palestinians become Palestine. The Jordan area has always had the largest populalation of "palestinians" even before Israel became an official state..

Seriously Misinformed

by 000 Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2002 at 5:42 AM

In all sincerity, you are seriously misinformed. The Zionist movement is littered with the blood of palestinians. It is not as simple as "hating" jews. It has to do with state power and it's relationship to a superpower like the U.S.

This is fundamentally a colonial struggle for freedom from Nazi like occupation. Most palestinians don't hate jews. They are quite capable of distinguishing between the policies of an oppressive state and individuals. It is true, and unfortuante, that some resort to terrorism, but you must realize that the Israeli army has butchered far more innocent civilians than suicide bombings ever have.

Please read up on your history:

Embrace the Hate

Palestinians have lived there for centuries

by Bert Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2002 at 3:41 PM

Palestinian Jews, Christians and Muslims have lived in the land of Palestine for centuries. The historic churches and mosques, as well as the historic Palestinian villages, are clear proof of this. The Palestinian Jews were, by and large, oppossed to the creation of the state of Israel. Israel was created by European Jews fleeing persecution in the West. They came with secular European ideas of statehood. The religious Jewish community resisted this sort of Zionism, only slowly coverting to it as it gained momentum. The Orthodox Jewish community slowly began converting to Zionism and some of them have come to make up the most fanatic elements of the settler movement, but the majority of the Orthodox Jewish community world wide is still somewhere between aZionist or antiZionist.

The Zionists from the very beginning wrote of displacing the indigenous population of Palestine. Theodore Herzl wrote in his diary about circumspectly removing the indigenous people. So the Zionist movement created the slogan "a people without a land for a land without a people" to make it sound as if Palestine was uninhabited.

Get a clue, Jake

by Apache Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2002 at 7:03 PM

Hey Jake (are you a cop?)

A couple of points:

---Palestinians do not hate Jews, only the Jewish state which has a well-documented

history of perpetrating atrocities against them, including ones instigated by Ariel Sharon.

---Politically conscious Americans are not stupid and don't interpret the conflict as a case

of simple jew-hating.

---Due to white supremacy and white privilege, the power structure in Israel perpetrates a

comparable amount of oppression against people of their own doctrine; witness how

Ethiopian Jews in Israel live in segregated impoverished ghettos comparable to

those of Palestinians while European/Russian originated Jews live in affluent neighborhoods

that keep out dark-skinned peoples

---If Jews are outcast in Arab countries it is probably due to their support of Israel and the

Western forces that support its imperialist nature, not based on religion.

---Sharon and the IDF have already proven themselves to be the facists here; witness the

way they have cut the country up and have imposed martial law on individual rights and

free speech; what a sick and twisted turn of events given the suffering of European Jews under

Hitler, but then you also have what is called "internalized oppression," where people oppressed

in the past will turn on others to vindicate themselves

---Israel is a tool of imperialist powers like the British and US. That has nothing to do with

being Jewish.

Also, there are plenty of Jews both here in the U.S. and abroad that have figured out

how the who Israel situation is a scam that pits people against each other based on

religion when it is really a case of imperialism.

So please stop with your whining and republicanish use of rhetoric (i.e. calling those

"fascist" who disagree with you).

If you are really down for Jews, and not Israel, which is a sham of a culture mecca,

join with the more sensible rabbis and people in the US who are challenging the

state to become what it ideally should be, a place of harmony between European

Jews and Arab-semetic peoples, and not a pawn of imperialist powers.

thank you...
