Short Scenario from web research

by LA webatorial Monday, Jan. 28, 2002 at 10:40 PM

The following is a list of participants and events going down at the world economic forum in NYC. The list does not pretend to contain the entirety of the event, or the be %100 accurate- as it was a result of late night research. For a more accurate view, go to scenerio planning websites such as www.accny.org/events.index.html or www.anotherworldispossible.com/textonlyA.html then click on convergence online.

A very tentative Scenerio drawn from web searches

The Players- Anti Capitalist Convergence

Another World is Possible

New York Reclaim the Streets

IAC

A whole mess of people in NY

Those suffering the affects of neo-liberal policy

The forums- World Social Forum in New York (to be held at the Brecht Forum)

www.anotherworldispossible.org . This is like the New York Preporatory Forum for the World Social Forum in Brazil.

-Counter Summitto be held at Barnard College, Columbia University) www.studentsforglobaljustice.org. This seems to be a forum for the Globalization Movements Tactics and ideas, though I am not sure.

The Scenario

From the Web of the ACC and Another world is possible

FRI;

March with the large Another World is Possible (AWIP) march

SAT

March with AWIP Permitted March. The AWIP organizers are asking that no CD take place within this march. The plan for this march is to pass corporate HQ’s such as Royal Dutch Shell along the march and damn them. Saturday is also the global pot-banging day in solidarity with the people of Argentina. The AWIP website suggests that NYC is a huge city with many locals. Instead of CD during the march, they suggest actions against one of the many interesting sites around NYC such as Gap.

The ACC suggests having a massive civil disobedience event as the march ends at the Waldorf Astoria.

SUN;

Jail Solidarity Events

ACC Direct Action Treasure Hunt around NYC

The AWIP sight announces that the post WEF party will be held at the NY Stock Exchange, if they can get there.
