The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command is growing increasingly frustrated because of the refusal of Syria and Hizbullah to allow its fighters to participate in attacks on the Shebaa Farms.
Sources close to the PFLP-GC say that the level of frustration is reaching a stage, where the group may attempt to conduct unauthorized operations, a move which would be opposed by Hizbullah and Damascus.
Part of the problem, the sources say, is due to the rising profile of the rival PFLP, from which the General Command split in 1968. PFLP fighters assassinated Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi two weeks ago and the group plays a leading role in the intifada in the occupied Palestinian territories.
