7969 (Peanuts) is also one of the few places in LA where they have a clubs where straights and gays, of many different races and classes, mix. It's the only place I know where the local Russians hang out in numbers. It's been home to Sin-A-Matic and Velvet for years.

I guess part of the "problem" is that a few of the clubs push discount coupons. Maybe their crime is making diverse nightlife available to people without a ton of cash, for whom $20 or $30 for a night out is a lot of money?

Is someone forgetting that this strip of Santa Monica used to be really f'd up not too long ago?
