United States of Amnesia

by Amin R. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at 7:17 PM

United States of Amnesia

From an arab-american anarchist,

One of the greater threat is the level of passivity and ignorance (among US and to some extent european white people) concerning US and western policy. It makes easy for the corporation and the state to push forward their totalitarian agenda through brainwashing media.

Make no mistake: Bin Laden (and Saddam Hussein, and the saudi arabia regime and most of the islamist-fascist groups and most of the arab dictatorship) have been created by the US. In latin america the US rogue state formed and used right-wing regimes and murders to kill and destroy all progressive forces, organized labor etc.

In the arab and muslim world they created the islamist to destroy progressive, feminist or marxist groups. I don't like marxist bullshit but that's not hte question here.

Just one example amongst too many : during the 80's the US state gave the permission to their best friend saddam hussein to exterminate the kurds in irak, because of the marxist PUK.

And the US-Tool Saddam Hussein bombed thousands of humans with chemicals for US CAPITALIST, MILITARIST and IMPERIALIST INTERESTS. This is just one example of the

bloody, cynical and fascist US policy.

All the media pigs, calling for war crimes against arab and muslim populations DENY this fact, they lie as they've always done. And their deny reminds me the deny of shoah, it reminds me the deny of european colonial genocides, it reminds the deny of slavery.

During the 30's many parts of the state and many capitalists in the US approved Hitler agenda. In US schools do they remind that many US corporations were working with the nazis ? Do they remind the anti-jewish mood of many prominent US state or army leader? Do they remind that many high rank nazis were welcomed in US and Kanada?

Do they remind that the US capitalist elite approved and helped the 'class cleansing' of european progressive by the fascists regimes, from spain to italia, from germany to hungary ?

Do they remind that nazis were following italian fascists ?

And "fascists" comes from "fascio". The fascio were small leagues of former italian soldiers who fought during 1st world war and felt frustration since the end of the war.

The movement developped when money and mainstream media attention came from the italian capitalists.

Indeed the workers, anarchists, marxists, unions were strong and they started occupying work places in the cities, expropriating big landowners in the country. The capitalist class threatened used the tool to break "reds" and anarchists: the fascists.

The european fascist speech mixed social frustration, love for social order and religious state, submission to mythic authority, anti-progressive, anti-jewish agenda, colonialism and racial superiority.

Amerikkka started fighting nazis ONLY when the economic world order was threatened by the former nazi friend.

We shall not fall into the reactionnary-binarist-emotive trend that some try to spread, even on indymedia...

If imperialist western agenda goes on, we can expect other disgusting bloodshed by islamist-US puppet and then many arab-muslim people, US people of color and political opponents could pay a high price.

Get ready for self defense...

Educate and organize.

No war beetween nations, no peace beetwwen classes

I am an African-American Anarchist, and very much agree with Amin's statement about the real, hidden history of American foreign policy, which has brought on these attacks in the USA, IMHO. Like amnesiacs, this government and its naive people proceed in the world pretending to be the "champions of democracy", "lobbying for peace" in the Middle East", and to have clean hands in international disputes. But the USA is not a neutral arbiter in the Palestinian-Israeli war, it is a combatant on the side of Israel and always has been. It gives the guns and billions of dollars of aid to prop up the military regime of Israel. No, the hands of the USA are not clear, but are dripping with blood.

But it is the media, which is a tool of the military-industrial complex and the central government, which for years has dehumanized Palestinians and justified US-Israel military intervention in the minds of the American people. The US supplied the guns and Israel the military troops to control the region for big oil and U.S. corporations. The propaganda about "Palestinian terrorism" by a state like Israel rings hollow, from a government which was literally founded as a terrorist nation with murderous attacks on Palestinians by the Haganah, the Stern gang, and other secret military organizations. It is extremely hypocritical for them to now claim some moral position for peace. Thousands of people, innocent civilians, were murdered in villages in Palestine to drive out the Arab population of the country. The current head of the Israeli government, Ariel Sharon, is a longstanding war criminal, and Haganah terrorists supplied almost all of the various heads of state and important officials over the years since the creation of the state of Israel. It is a white settler nation, which treats Palestinians just like the apartheid state in South Africa treated Black Africans, stripped them of civil and human rights.

This racist, authoritarian nation is the regime that the government of the USA supports, while they both claim to want "peace." But it is not a just peace that it wants, it is just "a few pieces": a piece of Jordan, a piece of Syria, a piece of Egypt, a piece of every country in the region through military conquest. This is a historical fact, which can be documented even using American sources.

As an Anarchist, I am not sypathetic to Islamic fundamentalism [or Judeo-Christianity for that matter], but I cannot turn a blind eye to the historical record either. This is not a just war, it is the usual imperialist conquest, with material considerations (oil and drugs] and American geo-political concerns. The US wants to determine the political shape of the region, just like with every other intervention in its history, whether in Latin America Africa, or the Middle East. This is not a war against "international terrorism", [since it is not a war against itself], it is just a war to fight America's current enemies, and to send a message that if you mess with America, you will be smashed by the world's strongest military.

The Middle East conflict has been raging for years, it is just that the American government and people could pretend tht it did not effect them since they had never been attacked or seen mass destruction. People could be slaughtered by the Israeli military/Mossad/Falange, in say, Beirut, Lebanon where 17,500 people, [the majority of them civilians who were slaughtered in 1989-1990], and they could not feel their pain. Now this is no longer the case, thousands have been killed on American soil in a televised news event, propelling mass recriminations By American politcal leaders and mobilization of the American military to attack Afghanistan with airstrikes, and the question is whether we will learn from this conflict that an eye for an eye does not render justice, it just makes one blind!

These airstrikes will just lead to more death and destruction, there will be no winners; it will incite even more people like Osama Bin Laden. There will be one retaliation after another from guerrillas and the West, and soon no one will even remember who caused the initial conflict, there will be too much blood and bitterness to ever turn back, or reach a constructive result. Unless the people of the world, instead of politicians or leaders in the world, finally intervene with an anti-war movement to stay their hands, or a class war to destroy capitalism entirely comes out of this.

Right now the *minimal* demands must be: The US must be made to withdraw its troops from the region and stop interfering in the affairs of other nations, Israel must give up its stolen lands and its claims to "sacred nationhood", and the use of terrorism in a military or political cause must be denounced by all sides.
