THE GENTLE WAR!

The U.S government is walking on eggshells trying not to further arouse the worlds one billion Moslems and to retain Western support for its attack on Afghanistan. They want to make it viewed as “a gentle war” as they dropped 37,000 food packs for a country where between 2 and 4 million are in a starvation mode after two years of drought and a war devastated economy. This is a PR ploy that might sell in the U.S. but not where hunger is endemic. So far the human casualties reported have been minimal.

Reuters reported today that “At the U.N the U.S. warned that it might have to launch military strikes against other nations and groups beside Afghanistan and Osama bin Laden’s al Quada network!” British foreign Minister, Jack Straw immediately demurred saying “Afghanistan is where the problem is and that is the military action in which we are involved.” One can see here that even America’s closest ally cannot afford to follow

the emotionally charged Washington leadership blindly without getting in trouble with their own nervous constituency.

A big thing is made of a “clash of religions” between Muslims and the Western faiths.

In my opinion religion plays a minor role in motivation of the anti-Americanism that is now coming to a head ever more daily. The frustration has built up now to the point where the masses are tired of seeing their own governments run by and principally for

the benefit of the local elite in a cruel partnership with Exxon and allied exploiters.

As bin Laden points out this exploitation can’t cease until the authoritarian government

control over them ends and this change can’t be accomplished until American troops and

their hardware is forced to leave the area.
