Kurdistan is an important region. With 25,000,000 recorded people, shaped much like the outline of the continent of Africa only much smaller an sliced by Turkey, the Islamic Republics of Iran and Iraq, Syria and a pocket of Armenia Kurdish men and women have endured uprisings, loss of 100,000's of thousands of lives, imported weapons used against them, strange alliances and bio/chem weapons.

In an area the size but not shape of California work millions of families on lentil crops, apples, dates, sheep oil fields and heavy truck deliveries.

Some students of political science may remember occasional fighting in dry hills or near strategic passes because the Kurdistan Workers Party involved it's members and areas they lived in on armed attacks against Turkish authorities.

Kurdish Television and radio are still illegal in that secular blend of cultures linking Asia the mIddle East and Europe.

In addition to media control, many supporters of Kurdish meetings were told not to report to their governmental offices. They were too friendly.

In Turkey, like in Indonesia for Chinese immigrants; it is unlawful to bestow a Kurdish name onto a child.

Several industrial powers have been granted export liscenses and have delivered Apache Helicopters (Boeing Aircraft Industries Seattle), King Cobra (Bell Textron Texas) and Armored Personnel Carriers-useful in a tornado or hurricane but often dangerous for basic people caught between sides. Food Machinery Corporation of California reportedly constructed 2,800 of these as did AV Technologies of Michigan which manufactured 140.

Since 1980 the United States has sold or given Turkey-a NATO- ally 15 billion worth of weapons.

Tragically for early morning villages the officers of that Army and a some of it's men=bers have looted, burned or forcibly evacuated more than 3,000 villages.

Above article contains information from The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists March-April 1999. Maps information from State of the World Atlas, Emory University Woodruff Library and discussions with political science professors at Emory University and Antioch College.

Across the dry hills in Iraq--sometimes across the mountains-- 50 newspapers and magazines a Television station anda multitude of political parties.

Most are on record to deny Sanctuary to the Communist Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) throughout the region.

Readers may wonder what makes Kurdistan in and near Iraq different?

In some ways Kurdish residents have suffered mush more in Iraq. The deaths have been much, much higher.

In 1988-1989 the Iraqi Government decided to begin the Anfal Campaign. Wells were sealed, nearly 1,000,000 were internally forced to leave northern Iraq and move to the Southern area. Their the Iraqi gov. ordered the ARREST of any official or citizen who provides employment, food or shelter to newly ARRIVING KURDISH PEOPLES.

Chemical and biological weapons were used many times. In the town of Halabjal near Iran; 4,000-5,000 citizens were killed by these cocktails combinations. 10,000 were injured.

Since then the Iraqi government has consistently refused to account honestly for 500 tons of SCUD propellant-over 40 SCUD biological warheads and the government newspaper AL-Thawra owned by Saddam's son Uday referred to the August 2 invasion of Kuwait as "the honorable day of the call."

Germany and China are both highly involved in hi-tech industrial armaments marketing, sales and delivery.

THE ANFAL CAMPAIGN MURDERED MORE THAN 182,135 People many farmers, business people, students, religious people and others. This was in Iraq.

1) Is K. Democratic Party of Iraq

2) Patriotic Union of Kurdistan

I have checked these facts for accuracy and they are the best that I can describe at present.
