National Day of Prison Protest: Speak Out and Demonstration in Front of the Women's Detention Facility at Las Colinas
The San Diego Chapter of the California Coalition for Women Prisoners, in solidarity with the National Prison Reform Unity Project, is organizing a Speak Out and Demonstration in front of the Women's Detention Facility in Las Colinas. Mental and medical healthcare inside jails and prisons are inadequate and often place the life of incarcerated women at risk. San Diego is no exception. It is estimated that up to half of the women at Las Colinas need mental health assistance, which includes drug rehabilitation. Las Colinas' mental health services are under-funded and inappropriately staffed. Most women are either poorly treated or not helped at all. Every human being deserves access to adequate health care. Support our sisters at Las Colinas and their families! For more info, please call 619/475-8227 or 619/231-9340.
