Mao begins Great Leap Forward 1958 in China in rural areas. at least 28 million people killed in strvation due to no surplus allowed and forced communism. Mainly affects middle China. People who oppose it are sent to labor-thought reform camps or killed. 1,500,000 Tibetans killed at same time. No birth control until many MANY years later. in late 1960's or early 1970's.

Cultural revolution 1966-1976. Young people forced to countryside for manual labor. Several miilion sent, hundreds of thousands tortured, books burned by the pound, tens of thousands murdered. Deng Xiaoping's son thrown from a roof. He now travels in a wheelchair.

Pol Pot and the Cambodian Communist Party. Early 1970's. Several million people killed at gun[point or in fields. Pol Pot returned from Paris under the name Suloth Salar--something like that. He advocated instant communism and depopulating cities for countryside. His party received firearms and trucks from China and used Great Leap Forward as a model.A video was aired on CBS in Atlanta before 1999 showing Deng Xiaoping shaking hands with this radio engineer in an inter-party meeting. Now he says after arrest "It's time to get back to business."

Good Research, Wrong Forum

by Concha La Chuga Friday, Dec. 01, 2000 at 9:41 PM

Were I a doctrinal Soviet-style Communist, and not just your run of the mill anti-corporate hell raising eco-progressive with a dislike for dictatorships of the proletariat or of any other kind of iat for that matter, I'd say I had something to think about besides just human nature and the evils of too much power.

Good argument, wrong forum. The world's remaining 200 or so Bolsheviks probably have their own net site too. Ask the FBI.

you fail to explain

by Who he Tuesday, Dec. 05, 2000 at 12:29 PM

you fail to explain why Marx pleaded with the workers of Paris in 1870 not to attempt a further revolution, which they did the following year. Why ? because it would mean a slaughter, and thats what happened.

You also fail to explain why Trotsky was murdered by Stalin, along with Bukharin, Kirov, and almost all the original Bolsheviks, along with several other socialists fleeing in terror from failed revolutions.

It is clear that Stalin was not a revolutinary- in every case, he CLOSED down revolutions, preferring to support fascists and reactionaries.
