mugwort@mcn.org

August 13. 2000, The Rally for Mumia Abu Jamal, Pershing Square. October 22 Coalition activists speak out on the issues of police brutality, the racist death penalty, the murders committed by police in LA and beyond. Richard Ellard and Brian Smith, whose family members were murdered by officers while in police custody, are interviewed along with veteran activist Joey Johnson, well known for burning a US flag at the 1984 Republican Convention, taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court, and winning it. Powerful story telling! (12 minutes)

STOP RIGHT-WING DEATH SQUADS

From: Ross Regnart

STOP RIGHT-WING DEATH SQUADS

If the U.S. Government really wants to stop right-wing death squads in Colombia, the U.S. should offer a $3 Million Dollar Reward for the capture of AUC leader Carlos Castano. The U.S. should treat Carlos Castano like any other terrorist.

Several world organizations should publicly ask the U.S. Government (George W. Bush) to post a $3,000,000 or larger reward for the capture of Carlos Castano. It the U.S. Government refuses... that will help define the U.S. Government's position regarding right-wing Death Squads in Colombia.

Once a reward is offered for Carlos Castano, it will be more difficult for Castano to get amnesty for the crimes he has already committed. It will become easier for Castano's surviving victims to sue the corporations and businesses that financially supported his rein of terror.

Note: Victims may be able to file their lawsuits in the U.S.
