Peachtree Street shut down over bacteria scare
Authorities shut down Peachtree Street in the heart of Midtown on Friday because of a false anthrax scare.
The shutdown came at 11 a.m. after a worker opened a suspicious letter at the Ford & Harrison law firm, 1275 Peachtree Street N.E.
The law firm specializes in labor law for employers.
The firm's spokesman, Creed McCormack said the letter read: 'Be biased in representing your clients. Remember there is only one God.'
It had sand in it, McCormick said. The worker who opened the letter called 911 and dispatchers told firefighters and police that the worker had a package containing either sand or anthrax, said Atlanta police Lt. Larry Gilbert.
Police blocked the street to all traffic, but later opened all but one lane.
Firefighters and FBI agents wearing protective suits inspected the letter.
Agents then took it to a lab for testing, said Atlanta Fire Department spokeswoman Jolen Freeman.
"Where the word 'anthrax' came from, nobody seems to know," Freeman said. Anthrax is a bacteria that is usualy fatal.'
Obituaries are on the right side. We want the strange burnings to be investigated equally as quickly...especially when they are of a home or church. Thank you for writing in to the guy who wrote from DAN.Maybe the story in the Atlantic Monthly about the RCP being marginally involved in the Rodney King Riots is a rumor. Let's continue to pour water on our heads and gain the upper hand where that hand may be. Without firing them up, firing them off or going bonkers...? Q Stay Away!!
