My Father, Your Ass

by Hugh Stegman Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 1:52 AM

Dude. My father would have laughed in your face, but he's down in Leisure World, so now I have to instead. Get a day job. Get a life. Get help on your problem. Try making art. Try prozac.

...but not their moms' asses!

In 1968, I was the mother of two preschool children, a girl and a boy, who was becoming angrier by the minute at the anti-activist violence, at the buildup of the Viet Nam war. In 1970, I lived in Bangkok and got to see the U.S. military command party down at American taxpayers' expense, turning Thailand's children into prostitutes and drug dealers. (The Thai culture is devastated today.) I could see that when my son was of age, the U.S. would send him, too, to his death to defend Coca-Cola, etc. The U.S. commercial interests have used me, it is true, because I became a divorced mom and had to work, but I am angry still. Police punks have no soul, and do not even know that the system they spy for, commit violence for, has made them the worst exploited of all. Ask any Viet Nam vet.

From Philly to LA

As a veteran of Philly R2K, let me say these fools are only digging their own social grave as they support the ruling class above them (the same ones that nearly cut their living eages for a new stadium in Chinatown).

Let it be known again these Benedict Arnold thugs committed the worst acts of civil violation I have ever seen: bleeding in my handcuffs, pepper-spraying me as a handcuffed prisoner, lying to us as plaintiffs, sexually harassing & verbally degrading arrestees--being mindless humans.

Woe to them when their day has come to feel the pain of their spiteful acts.

Overreaction maybe

I understand the suspicion, rats suck and we must always be on the look out for them, but please don't go overboard - he could be a reporter, or a writer, or just a guy trying to take notes on what a successful protest is for his collective at home. It could be anything. I already think we need to start rewriting our strategies (i.e. Puppet warehouses, materials in our signs, etc.). The more we do the same thing the easier they'll learn how to shut us down.

I know him!

by Silly Rabbit - Snohomish Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 5:17 AM

He's a manager at a local Wal-Mart!

My dad was in Vietnam in 1967-1969. That was mean of them to kick his ass. I'll have to ask him about it. My fathers a great guy, he's taught me that the government and the people who control it have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, time and time again, that you cannot trust our government. (unless your a manager at wal-mart apparently).

No sir, just your everyday average joe.....

Shirt came out in '96

by Daryle Lamont Jenkins Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 12:34 PM
subverter@lycos.com (732)916-2277 PO Box 1885, New Brunswick, NJ 08903-1885

These shirts came out for the first time in Chicago four years ago. The cops were getting in trouble for selling them.

It is indeed sad, but not as sad as what would happen if we continue to let these jokers get their way. Remember that after the events of the past year from Seattle, to DC, to Philly, they are hot after us. The NY Post, one of the most racist papers in the country, are now calling for RICO laws to be used against us, a departure (or rather hypocritical move) for them since they denounced its use when they were used against pro-lifers. I was in Philly and one of the Organizers of an anti-racist rally in NJ (the web page above will tell you about that)and I can tell you they are making their move. So will we.

If anyone has any video of the demonstrations that I can use for a public access program I produce here in NJ, please send it my way. The address is PO Box 1885, New Brunswick, NJ 08903-1885.

Free Speech?

by An Observer Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 2:13 PM

Funny how you condemn free expression when it doesn't agree with your personal view. It seems acceptable to wear clothing with writing that threatens or insults businesses, certain professions and people whose skin color or heritage you want to stereotype, but not for this guy, right?

Yeah, but...

by Scott Yoder Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 2:27 PM

We're also exercising our right to free speach by criticizing him... Plus, you have to admit, he's probably a jackass. :)

Or just a guy with a sense of humor.....

by An Observer Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 2:55 PM

You folks need to learn to laugh more...everything and every body are NOT out to get you...just somethings and somebodies.

...Sympathizer To Police Brutality...

by tymarchaic Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at 7:26 PM
tymarchaic@hotmail.com

This man is obviously a sympathizer to Police Brutality, an ex-cop, or a plain clothes cop. Regardless, expressing such sentiments and affirmations in the history of classist, often racist police brutality, especially at demonstrations, he deserves for someone to bif him in the forehead. That's right, I said bif him. The only purpose of the police is to be the hired mercenaries of the State, and to exist, in demos of mass presence containing diversity as wide as colors in the spectrum, as protectors of private property, namely the exploitative bastard multinational corporations, and to be tools of social control. Obviously the people in power do not want real democracy to happen, because the power they wield would be compromised, or even eradicated, as well as their corporate financial backing. The ambiguous saying about the police is "to protect and to serve", but what is it they protect, and who is it they serve? That guy is a buffoon, and if ya ask me, he should spend more time in the library researching communication, and less time shaving his head. Resist to exist.

Plain Clothes Cops

by Spruce Friday, Aug. 18, 2000 at 1:11 PM
spruce0230@hushmail.com

Several individuals from my affinity group started playing a game called "Spot the Cop." The game usually involved finding individuals that often attempted to look like demonstrators, but often did things that indicated they were actually cops (like giving hand signals to other cops or meticulously documenting information about demonstrators--and these were not media. Media reps. wore identification badges, by the way. This clown is not evening trying to be undercover. Either he is a cop or a cop supporter. On that note, surveliance of activists is not free speech. Quite the contrary, it is the suppression thereof.

Just your average reactionnary

by Phebus Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at 2:06 PM
nicolasphebus@yahoomail.com

Common... This is probably not a cop. They are not _that_ stupid, and to think they are is being as stupid as they think we are... This is probably just your average provocative reactionnary... If we focus on this type of highly provocative, visual "opponement", then there is a high risk we will forget to look after real "agent provocateur" and undercovers [who probably look more like the average demonstrator than anything else]. After all, if the cops where able to infiltrate every and all revolutionnary movement of this century without being seen, they would'nt probably look that obviously stupid. Get real.

an un-undercover cop

by Antibody Monday, Aug. 28, 2000 at 1:53 AM
Destruct81@hotmail.com

this is probably not an undercover cop, but rather a plainclothes cop(difference is that the undercover tries to blend in, the plainclothes just isn't in uniform). i have seen both, and this guy is most likely from some special unit set up for intelligence and strategy during the conventions or on a full-time intelligence unit. don't be naive in thinking that cops all wear uniforms, especially mid to upper ranking field officers. better safe then sorry, and this is is obviously a plainclothes cop anyway, so people need to not try and fool themselves into giving this guy the benefit of the doubt, most cops are assholes, and most assholes you'll encounter during a demo are cops.
