Actually I guess what has always impressed me about Dennis is that he is good at reading a TelePrompter. He always gives his writing staff credit for the funny jokes.
This particular episode aired yesterday and featured the youngest right wing obese neck tied author of a book I won't buy that I have ever seen. During the short and well moderated debate the up and coming Rush Limbaugh sincerely expressed his certainty that people young enough to serve in the military will vote for Bush rather than Kerry because Bush doesn't hesitate when it comes to military spending. There has already been much good debate about why Kerry sometimes doesn't vote for outrageous military spending bills as if he would leave the troops naked and starving in Iraq.
Then the whole "varsity panel" agreed that young people are mostly uninformed and don't understand the issues.
I submit to you now, evidence of the panels complete ignorance of socio-political culture outside of the narrowminded elitist world in which they thrive, these Carlson Tuckers, these caricatures of pundits in a post freedom of speech nation.
But first a short story, there were these two Jews, one I liked, one I didn't. Al Franken, who is still working, and Dick Cheney, who is working but says this is his last fling at public service thank God. He should retire as a Jew. Why can't Dick be more like Larry David?
Besides the presidential campaign quickee, the varsity discussed two other current issues, the rifle features ban expiration, and Putin's reaction to so called terrorism in that federation.
Dennis claimed to lean left on the issue, (AK, Kalashnikov) then he repeatedly said he was scared and that he would move away if he needed an Uzi (right wing) in his neighborhood. I have been to California and you do need a weapon. A shameless commercial plug for the Jewish firearm.
The whole panel agreed that something should have been done, one panelist claimed that the Dems were afraid of the issue however some did address it.
More politically incorrect was a consensus amongst the panel and Dennis that Vladimir Putin was dealing with the same kind of terrorism threat that the US got hit with on 911. A closer analogy would be if Alaska or Montana seceded from the union. An even closer one is that a civil war took place there already and the breakaway state still has radicals that will commit such violent acts.
I cannot say that I am informed enough about Chechen politics to have an opinion on whether their grievances are just, however their tactics aren't earning them any popularity. Neither did the panel on the show seem to know much about why this conflict exists or even care. Dennis just wants to kill bad guys. To say that on TV is borderlining a criminal threat.
Putin is certainly more justified in suspending elections for governor following such an event than any of the steps taken by the Bush administration to restrict liberties and demand money after 911.
And they had the unmitigated audacity to repeatedly state that Putin was taking advantage of the situation politically to assume authoritarian control over the federation. At least most of the voters in the federation voted for Putin. According to our government's records, Bush got fewer total votes than Gore and has assumed authoritarian power over the federation based on one really bad day of counterterrorism.
Dennis and the panel also agreed that voters are so scared of terrorism that they cannot consider voting for anything but Bush. Dennis also repeated that he is scared and wants some one else to be killing bad guys for him.
Dennis also supported the use of firearms to kill wild animals.
So Dennis is scared, he doesn't care if people kill animals with firearms, Hollywood doesn't need military rifles for defense, he wants bad guys killed everywhere by some one else, he's rough he's tough and he is in love with Bush. But he does not really approve of Putin claiming any war powers when a group of hostage takers demand independence from a federation.
All of the panelists are considered educated by Western standards which proves what idiots we really are.
Oh yea, back to the voting for Bush thing. Do young people actually back the stuffy hardline GOP? No, stupidity and greed are instinctive virtues although they can grow with time. Hopefully the virtue of of rebellion will steer the "youth" away from the vote. One member of the panel said that young voters think what their parents and others inspire them to think. A have rarely seen this phenomenon in my lifetime outside of TV sitcoms. Many US children automatically reject what their parents and other old morons think.
Here is what should scare young and old more than Putin. The young pundit with the book that suggested we let 16 year olds vote so that they "know what it is like to be an American before they serve in the military" blah blah.
As if voting was some experience so fulfilling as to inspire martyrdom. The act of voting in the US often leads to skepticism.
Much better to let the recruits vote on whether to have sex before the go on their tour of duty and make the government pay for it.
Better yet, don't send children to fight wars. Children is a term often used by anchors on CCTV 9 to refer to US troops. I think this is accurate. The time is coming when the war must be fought here in the US between adults.
Less than two months ago Dennis used the show to give Bush credit for the peace we are enjoying round the world.
