This discussion will provide information on the background of the Act including attempts by religious groups to derail the legislation as well as how religious groups attempt to prevent individuals from utilizing the Act. The presentation will also include the process of how to utilize the Act to obtain Medical Aid in Dying in California. The purpose of Medical Aid in Dying is to allow more people to have a peaceful death at home with loved ones, with pain and discomfort managed and to have spiritual needs and values respected. It allows terminally ill, mentally capable adults to control their dying process by requesting medication that will shorten a difficult and unbearable dying process. Utilizing this law will not invalidate wills, contracts, or insurance as it is not considered suicide. Please join us for a discussion of this important topic.
