Judge Riddle is now retired has remained active in the pursuit of justice. Most recently she has been involved in the issues of Catholic hospital mergers in Orange County most notably Hoag Hospital and St. Joseph’s. She will discuss the ever-growing trend of Catholic hospital expansion, the impact on health care treatment, and will use Hoag as a case in point. Since 2014, she has been involved with the Community Action Fund Board for Planned Parenthood throughout the Orange and San Bernardino counties. She is currently a fellow at the Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy.
She started her career in education and taught educational philosophy at various universities, including Syracuse University, California State University, Long Beach, The University of Iowa and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings School of Law, and her Ed.D. from Syracuse University, and was a post-doctoral scholar in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Lynne Riddle was appointed to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California in 1988 and served until her retirement in 2002. Before her appointment to the bench, she practiced law in Santa Ana as a sole practitioner. During that time, she developed a special interest in bankruptcy fraud and often served as special counsel to bankruptcy trustees.
