On May 14, California is taking part in a global wave of resistance to keep fossil fuels in the ground and accelerate the just transition to 100% renewable energy.
This is our chance to stand together and show that our health, our communities, and our climate are more important than the profits of a shameful industry.
We?ll convene in Downtown Los Angeles to demand that our elected leaders put an end to neighborhood drilling and eliminate the oil and gas extraction practices that threaten the state?s health, environment, and future. If California wants to uphold its legacy as a global climate leader, we must keep oil and gas in the ground and work towards establishing a 100% clean energy economy.
From Richmond refineries that pollute the air we breathe with unregulated toxic emissions, to coastal spills from offshore drilling in Santa Barbara that destroy our beautiful ecosystems, California is under siege. And no where is the harmful effects of oil and gas production on more evident than in our Southern California communities. In Porter Ranch thousands of families were relocated after the worst methane leak in United States history and in Los Angeles neighborhood drilling butts up against places where people live, work and play every day.
