Poverty, Racism, and Gentrification: Roots of L.A.’s Housing and Homeless Crisis. Community activists and tenants’ rights organizers will kick off a discussion on how the government has perpetuated skyrocketing rents, development for profit, and gentrification—conditions causing record evictions and homelessness, especially in workingclass Black and other neighborhoods of color. Speakers will address ways the community can organize to make housing a human right. Saturday, April 16, 3pm, Solidarity Hall, 2122 W. Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles. Wheelchair accessible. Salad buffet supper served at 5pm for a donation. Auspices: Freedom Socialist Party. For more information call 323-732-6416, email fspla@earthlink.net or visit www.socialism.com.
