A film festival to mark Women’s History Month will be held on Saturday, March 26th 10:30 am-7pm at the Downtown Independent Theater, 251 South Main Street, LA 90012. Under the theme “Invest in Caring Not Killing”, the Festival will feature five films: 10:30am Women and Work Double Feature: All Work and No Pay, a classic from the 70’s women’s movement, plus Caring Survival & Justice vs the Tyranny of the Market, Selma James and a Baroness take on market feminism. 1pm Women and Incarceration: Civil Brand, a cult favorite about a women prisoners’ revolt. 3:00pm Women and War: The Invisible War, academy award nominated indictment of widespread sexual attacks on women in the military. 5pm Indigenous Women and the Environment: Broken Rainbow, Oscar-winning documentary - Indigenous grandmothers vs energy companies as they defend their land and culture. Each film followed by Q&A. Special Guests include Doc Wilson of Mandrill, Margaret Prescod host of KPFK’s “Sojourner Truth, and more.
