Selma James, London-based author and anti-racist campaigner, will be in LA to help launch the new book UJAMAA, The Hidden Story of Tanzania’s Socialist Villages, April 18th 4-7pm at the Southern California Library. James wrote the introduction to, and with Nina Lopez edited, this eye-opening book by Ralph Ibbott which tells the story of ujamaa or African socialism, one of Africa’s great contributions to social change movements. Pierre Labossiere, Haiti Action Committee, will give us an historic context as well as bring us an update on today’s grassroots campaigning for justice in Haiti.
