The chapters of the ACLU of Southern California present: Women\'s Rights Forum: How incarcerated women lose their rights as caregivers and care recipients
Panelist Esther Lim will speak on the issues of confinement and jail violence and their effect on women prisoners. Melissa Goodman will focus especially on LGBT and reproductive justice perspectives. Aura Bogado will speak on detention facilities used by immigration facilities, especially private prison networks, and the special issues women detainees face. Esther and Melissa are staff members of the ACLU of Southern California, and Aura writes for The Nation and Colorlines. LA Progressive Publisher and law professor Sharon Kyle will lead a spirited discussion.
