tomorrow, 7:30 pm, Fri., Feb 28 public forum: "Black liberation and Palestine - a history of internationalism"
135 E 3rd St, in downtown LA, CA 90012 between Los Angeles & Main streets on 3rd St. la@pslweb.org 323-810-3380
There is a long history of the Black freedom movement standing with the cause of Palestinian liberation, and vice versa. From racial profiling, to the incarceration of youth, to whites-only roads, neighborhoods, buses, housing and schools, white supremacy in the United States closely resembles the occupation of Palestine. SNCC, the Black Panthers and Malcolm X all connected the Black struggle with Palestine. This solidarity continues today on many fronts, from the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement of Israeli products to Palestinian demonstrations against the acquittal of racist murderer George Zimmerman. Join us for a discussion on the continued ties between these two movements and the example they provide for practicing meaningful international solidarity.
