Revolution Books is pleased to host the book release party for Paul Robeson for Beginners by Paul von Blum, and illustrated by Elizabeth von Notias & Ramsess.
Celebrate the life of Paul Robeson, the great African-American actor, singer, athlete, and radical. Best known as a concert singer for \"Ol\' Man River\" and star of Othello on Broadway in the early 1940\'s, he was unrepentant in the face of a lifetime of racism and the 1950\'s blacklisting for his radical views and activism during the McCarthy era. This book demystifies and gives long overdue recognition to the life of this extraordinary human being.
\"Paul Robeson...a unique mountain of a man in all things of brain and brawn, yet most importantly, courage. Paul von Blum has captured the great excitement of this man, this mountain, with beautiful illustrations by his daughter to project the story of his life.\" - Ed Asner, film, TV, stage, and voice actor Paul von Blum is the author of 6 books and numerous articles on art, culture, education, and politics, and has taught at UCLA since 1980 in African American Studies and Communication Studies.
