In response to the global call-out for New Years Eve's noise demos at prisons, jails, and detention centers around the world, we are calling all rebels and opponents of the Prison-Industrial Complex to convergence on the Metropolitan Detention Center in Downtown Los Angeles December 31st.
Rally at City Hall's North lawn 10PM
March to Metropolitan Detention Center
Bring noisemakers and banners!
A new year looms. Our conversations turn towards chatter of a year gone by too fast, of fear and hope, of things yet to come. On the individual level, the approach of a new year is a time of resolutions. Commitments and re-commitments.
Together in the street, these commitments can become something more: a chance to re-assert our initiative as antagonists to the social order. To demonstrate our opposition to a world that cages its people and valorizes pigs, judges, D.As, and prison guards for doing it.
An opportunity for action instead of reaction.
A chance to show to support for the people locked down on New Year's, mere blocks away from the oblivious rich making champagne toasts in LA's finest luxury apartments.
Rebels to the Streets! Ring in the New Year Right!
No Demands for City Hall! No Grovelling to the Politicians! Rally on the North Lawn- then move out and bring the noise to inmates at the Detention Center!
****From the Global Call Out:******
"Noise demos outside of prisons in some countries are a continuing tradition. A way of expressing solidarity for people imprisoned during the New Year, remembering those held captive by the state. A noise demo breaks the isolation and alienation of the cells our enemies create...
Prison has a long history within capital, being one of the most archaic forms of prolonged torture and punishment. It has been used to kill some slowly and torture those unwanted ? delinquents to the reigning order ? who have no need of fitting within the predetermined mold of society."
