Join with Coalition for Community Control of the Police, International Action Center, BAYAN-USA, School of the Americas Watch-L.A., Interfaith Communities for Justice and Peace and others in a Speak Out for JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON MARTIN
It has been 50 years since the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington, but Dr Kings dream of social and economic justice has not been achieved!
The fact that Floridas laws allowed a frenzied racist vigilante like George Zimmerman to get away with the murder of Trayvon Martin is only the latest example of the reality for African-American and Latino youth. So called Stand-Your-Ground laws exist in at least 20 other states! This is all in addition to the racist violence committed against people of color - especially youth- by police departments from one end of the country to another. The U.S. has the highest per-capita prison population in the world, and prisoners are disproportionately people of color.
We demand Civil Rights charges against George Zimmerman! Fund jobs & education, not incarceration! End racist profiling and Stop & Frisk tactics by police! Stop deportations-full rights for immigrants! Please help spread the word. Log on to iacla.org to download the flyer, and contact us to volunteer with a postering team or mass phone call team.
