Thursday, July 25, 7:00 p.m. Radical Women Meeting Leaders and misleaders in the

battle for Crenshaw High Crenshaw, L.A.’s iconic, overwhelmingly Black and Latino high school was recently dismantled and replaced with three magnet schools by a charter friendly and union busting L.A. Unified School District. Outraged parents and community members had the potential to unite with teachers, staff and students to stop the school districts assault. But by the end of the school year LAUSD’s actions left 33 teachers displaced (27 were teachers of color) and the Special Education Department, among other vital programs, gutted. Freedom Socialist writer Yuisa Gimeno and Crenshaw High parent-leaders will discuss their involvement in the fight, the effect of LAUSD’s divide and conquer tactics, and share lessons they learned for future campaigns to defend public education. This discussion, along with a report back on the recent Radical Women Leadership Conference and upcoming activities, highlights the July meeting.

A home-cooked summer supper, with vegetarian option, will be served at 6:30pm for an .00 donation. This gathering will be held at Solidarity Hall, located at 2122 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles (off the 10 Freeway at Arlington, on bus lines #38, 209).
