Metro Sponsors the Rock ‘n Two Wheel

Rollin’ Concert Ride, led by C.I.C.L.E.!

From park to park, rock and roll on two wheels down to Levitt Pavilion for some irresistible tunes!

On Saturday, July 20th, 2013, through a sponsorship by Metro, C.I.C.L.E., with Bici Libre, will beat the summer heat with an evening bicycle ride to hear live music under the stars. We'll bike from the Exposition Park Rose Gardens to MacArthur Park to experience the unique sounds and beats of Mucca Pazza at Levitt Pavilion! The ride will connect two beautiful green public spaces in Los Angeles, stopping at MacArthur Park for the infectious sounds of Mucca Pazza, a not so typical marching rock ‘n roll band. Join us for an evening of drums, mandolins, accordions, dancing, and bikes! Feel free to pack a picnic or bring cash to enjoy Mama’s International Tamales that will be available at the show. Participants will learn about points of interest to explore along the route and at either end.

As with all C.I.C.L.E. rides, this ride is family-friendly, leisurely paced and will return to the starting point at the end of the evening. C.I.C.L.E. rides are fully supported, led by trained Ride Leaders and volunteers. This ride is 8 miles. Prior to the ride we will address safe street riding and group ride etiquette to ensure smooth sailing. Bici Libre will provide free bicycle valet.

When: Saturday, July 20th, 2013

Time: Meet at 6:30pm, ride leaves promptly at 7:00pm

The ride will return to the starting point by 10:30pm

Where: Metro Exposition Park Station (in front of the Rose Garden)

Accessible by Metro Rail and Metro buses: Expo Line, 705, 38, 217, Culver City #4

Plan your trip at metro.net.

What to bring: Bring water, a snack, bicycle lights, and a bicycle in good working order. This ride is FREE and open to anyone, but all participants should be able to ride a bike safely with the ability to brake, change gears, and balance while stopping and starting. All participants under 18 MUST wear a helmet and be escorted by a parent or guardian. Children under age 8 should be on a tag-a-long, bike trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device to participate in the ride.

About C.I.C.L.E.: Cyclists Inciting Change thru Live Exchange (C.I.C.L.E.) is a nonprofit organization working to promote the bicycle as a viable, healthy, and sustainable transportation choice.

About Metro Los Angeles: About Metro: Metro is the planner, operator and builder of LA County’s expanding public transportation system. The agency plays an important role in bicycle planning across LA County, funding more than 5.5 million for bicycle projects since 1993, facilitating first mile/last mile connections to transit and supporting bicycle transportation through various policies and programs. Metro’s sponsorship of CICLE events helps fulfill the agency’s goals of encouraging bicycle trips and promoting safe cycling skills.

About Bici Libre: Bici Libre is a volunteer run bicycle workspace. It is a project of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC). Bici Libre offers professional workstands and tools for most bicycle repairs. The space operates on a donation-based format for all used items, and has set prices for a few new items in stock. No one is turned away for a lack of funds. Bici Libre also houses a work-trade program. More information is available online at www.la-bike.org/bicilibre or visit the workshop at 1205 W. 6th St, Los Angeles, 90017.
