Seventy-three year old people\'s attorney Lynne Stewart is suffering with 4th stage breast cancer and fighting for her life in prison.
The call for freedom on the grounds of compassionate release has received wide support from peace and justice activists across the country and around the world. Thousands have signed petitions and many prominent individuals including Bishop Desmond Tutu and Mumia Abu Jamal have raised their voices supporting compassionate release.
The legal appeal for release was cleared by the warden of her prison, but was denied by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Lynne Stewart and her supporters are not giving up. Numerous demonstrations are already scheduled in July in NYC, and on July 12th there will be a major protest at the FBOP in Washington.
